Speaker Johnson’s Ignominious Betrayal
David Stockmans Contra Corner ^ | 4/19/2024 | David Stockman

Posted on 04/19/2024 9:02:56 PM PDT by hripka

Speaker Johnson’s ignominious betrayal of fiscal sanity might well be the death knell for the GOP. He is apparently risking his speakership on behalf of $95 billion of foreign aid boondoggles that Uncle Sam cannot remotely afford, and which actually provide zero benefit to the homeland security of America. And we do mean zero, as in nothing, nichts, nada, nyet and nugatory, as we amplify below.

What Johnson’s impending Waterloo means, therefore, is not merely the prospect of another wild and wooly succession battle, but actually that there is no point at all in the preservation of a Republican majority and GOP House Speaker. After all, the Washington GOP has become so infected with neocon warmongers and careerist pols who spend a lifetime basking in the imperial projects and pretensions of the world’s War Capital that apparently the best the House GOP caucus could do when it ejected the previous careerist deep stater from the Speaker’s chair was to tap the dim-witted nincompoop who currently occupies it.

The Republican party is thus truly beyond redemption. As JFK once said about the CIA, its needs to be splintered into a thousand pieces and swept into the dustbin of history.

“...its needs to be splintered into a thousand pieces and swept into the dustbin of history. “

Every fake “conservative” party in the West needs the same.

Look, nobody ever heard of this guy before he was nominated as the best we could get that that squish-uniparty GOP would vote for, so who the hell is surprised?

The thing about David Stockman is he’s a little like Icarus - someone who has fallen from great heights of success, plumbing new lows every step of the way, to the point he is competing with Martin Armstrong the convicted Ponzi felon for newsletter subscribers. He went from Reagan budget director to Salomon partner to Blackstone bigwig to failed vulture fund to newsletter writer.

Then he wrote a book, entitled “Peak Trump: The Undrainable Swamp And The Fantasy Of MAGA” in which he called Trump “a political flyweight, megalomaniacal incompetent and bile-ridden bully who stumbled into the Oval Office”. He further wrote of Trump: “(H)is embrace of what amounts to crackpot economics has not only left the nation spiraling toward the mother of all financial disasters. He has also finally euthanized what remained of GOP fiscal rectitude.”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Stockman
[Stockman’s influence within the Reagan Administration was weakened after the Atlantic Monthly magazine published the infamous 18,246-word article, “The Education of David Stockman”,[7] in its December 1981 issue, based on lengthy interviews Stockman gave to reporter William Greider.

Stockman was quoted as referring to Reagan’s tax act in these terms: “I mean, Kemp-Roth [Reagan’s 1981 tax cut] was always a Trojan horse to bring down the top rate.... It’s kind of hard to sell ‘trickle down.’ So the supply-side formula was the only way to get a tax policy that was really ‘trickle down.’ Supply-side is ‘trickle-down’ theory.”[7] Of the budget process during his first year on the job, Stockman was quoted as saying, “None of us really understands what’s going on with all these numbers,” which was used as the subtitle of the article.[7]

After “being taken to the woodshed by the president”[8] because of his candor with Greider, Stockman became concerned with the projected trend of increasingly large federal deficits and the rapidly expanding national debt. On August 1, 1985, he resigned from OMB and later wrote a memoir of his experience in the Reagan Administration titled The Triumph of Politics: Why the Reagan Revolution Failed in which he specifically criticized the failure of congressional Republicans to endorse a reduction of government spending to offset large tax decreases to avoid the creation of large deficits and an increasing national debt.]

From the beginning, he was an egotistical vandal out of his depth. While a Reagan operative, he granted an interview to far left polemicist William Greider (later of Rolljng Stone) in which he trashed Reaganomics and gave the left fodder against Reagan they use to this day. That he’s now turned his attention to yet another subject he doesn’t understand, and maybe doesn’t want to, is no surprise, but does he have to plumb new lows every step of the way?

Betrayal? We could cut all aid and the entire Military Budget outside of healtchare, and we would still be in debt. Stockman has always been a putz

Between his UFO schtick and anti Isreal statements, Tucker is now part of the lunatic fringe.

Yet Trump said he was doing a good job. Trump publicly praised him a few days ago. For the record, he said the same thing about McCarthy.

How did Gaetz and the rest of the "conservatives" get so bamboozled by Johnson?

I never heard of him until he became speaker, but these guys worked with him everyday.

BTW, where are the J-6 videos?
