In a stunning interview Sunday morning on CNN, Rep. Tony Gonzales, a Republican congressman from Texas, accused fellow Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of having sex with underaged girls.
"It's my absolute honor to be in Congress, but I serve with some real scumbags," he said. "Look, Matt Gaetz, he paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties."
This comes just a few weeks after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy said something similar at an event at Georgetown Univeristy.
"I'll give you the truth why I'm not speaker," McCarthy said. "It's because one person, a member of Congress, wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old."
The Justice Department began its investigation into Gaetz in 2020 after his former friend Joel Greenberg told investigators that Gaetz paid a 17-year-old for sex and to travel across state lines with him.
Greenberg, who was also under investigation, pleaded guilty in 2021 to six federal charges, including sex trafficking of a minor.
The Justice Department ended up declining to bring charges against Gaetz due to credibility issues with witnesses.
But Gaetz was recently subpoenaed by the then-underage woman he was accused of having sex with.
His deposition in the case is currently scheduled for June.

Gaetz used Hunter Biden’s name on the floor and in speeches after he was told not to by Leadership. That’s how he got in trouble.

Which is why it was totally ridiculous to kick out Santos, as if these crooks are any better than he is.
Just did a quick check and 30 states have it at 16 years old.
It’s a uniparty, there is no GOP except on TV. In reality, they are all on the same team. And so the uniparty is doing their part to make sure Gaetz is never governor of Florida, and instead some dem holds it for the next big election.
Gaetz should sue this scumbag for libel.
He also said that Gaetz and some conservative members were KKK members.
Again, Joe Biden has had the closest affiliation to the KKK.
