UPDATE: A New York prosecutor told jurors that Donald Trump’s hush money trial was “about a criminal conspiracy and a cover up,” part of an effort to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

Assistant District Attorney Matthew Colangelo’s opening statement sought to elevate the criminal charges against Trump as no mere white-collar misdeed, but something that had an impact on the direction of the country.

“No politician wants bad press, but the evidence at trial will show that this was not spin or communication strategy. This was a planned, coordinated ongoing conspiracy to influence the 2016 election,” Colangelo said.

As I've said on other posts--certain names pop up like a bad penny. This is one of those bad pennies.

Then .. everything a candidate does is part of a “conspiracy to influence an election”.

Unbelievable that they are able to argue that in court. But Trump is not allowed to argue that this whole case is about influencing the 2024 election. This whole thing is so unfair. obumber was right, I don’t recognize my country anymore.

What about the Clintons’ efforts to cover up Hillary’s messes?

The home-brew server, the classified documents, the health cover-up?

Why isn’t Hillary being prosecuted for preventing the American People from knowing the real truth in the 2016 election??

A stooge from the DOJ takes, what is essentially, a demotion to asst DA and gives the opening remarks at Trump’s show trial instead of giving that honor to his new boss DA Bragg.

Isn’t that special.

Seriously, why isn’t he allowed to argue the obvious, that instead of affecting the 2016 election this is all about trying to influence the 2024 election? It appears self evident - to everyone except a NYC court, maybe.

This was a planned, coordinated ongoing conspiracy to influence the 2016 election,

ROFL!!!

That's ridiculous.

Would a juror be dismissed if he literally laughed out loud at that sort of stupidity from an attorney?

He is one of the people involved in coordinating the different lawfare attacks on Trump.

If Trump wins in November, I hope he does take up Mike Davis' willingness to serve as AG for a time. I could see a big RICO case wrt to what is going on.

Even more, if a candidate buys a new suit and doesn’t declare it as a campaign expense, he/she will be charged with federal crimes (which state prosecutors in Hell-holes like NY will then prosecute).

But if they buy a new suit and do declare it as a campaign expense they will be charged with a different federal crime.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. It’s exactly where the Deep State wants us all to be.

Same thing with Trump’s estimate of property value. If he values it high, it’s loan fraud. If he values it low it’s tax fraud. And it’s up to corrupt judges to pretend they are appraisers and decide what the real value is, so the corrupt prosecutors can decide which crime to charge him with.

Corrupt as Hell, literally. But that’s where the Deep State wants us - where there is no such thing as justice because there’s no way for any of us to be “innocent”.

Chuck Schumer said it all when he said Trump should be careful about taking on the CIA, because the intel community has “six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.” The Deep State is putting those ways all on proud display for all to see. And if we fail to see that, we are the idiots and deserve the government we get.

Does the prosecutor understand that, using Stormy Daniels and Avenati to damage Trump during the 2016 election, was an attempt by democrats to influence the outcome of that election?

The prosecutor and the whole hush-money trial is an attempt to influence the outcome of the 2024 election, therefore, that trial must be stopped immediately, or all involved in bringing the case to court should be brought up on charges of election tampering.

The Conspiracy is that Trump was running for office. Not everything is illegal. I wish prosecutor could be arrested for Perjury.
