Russia warns the world is on the brink of a ‘direct military clash’ between nuclear powers

Russia warned Monday that the risk of a “direct military clash” between Russia and nuclear powers in the West is rising.

“Westerners are dangerously balancing on the brink of a direct military clash between nuclear powers, which is fraught with catastrophic consequences,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a video message to the participants of the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference.

The comments come after Russia reacted angrily to the U.S. House of Representatives passing a $61 billion foreign aid package for Kyiv at the weekend.

House lawmakers approved the aid Saturday despite long-standing objections from hardline Republicans; the bill now passes to the Democratic-majority Senate, which is expected to approve the legislation later this week before it’s passed to President Joe Biden to sign it into law.

The aid is a lifeline for Ukraine, whose forces in the east of the country have had to ration their usage of shells amid shortages of supplies; Russian forces have been making gains in the Donbas region, with Ukraine pleading for more air defense systems, artillery and ammunition to turn the tide in the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked U.S. lawmakers saying the bill passed by the House “will keep the war from expanding, save thousands and thousands of lives, and help both of our nations to become stronger.” He urged the Senate to pass the bill as quickly as possible.

The Russians likely have neutron bombs. Radiation fallout is a thing. Unfortunately, the outcome will be the same. We are truly insane.

I fully expect such troll farm behavior on Twitter/X platform. I use to have a bit higher expectations from FR.

Sewer behavior drives out good behavior.

I have a “gab” account; I rarely even log in over there. The place is a cesspool.

"Why didn't we back off in 1991? We won our war, I helped. The evil empire fell but our Neocons couldn't settle for that. We had to punish the Russians for ever existing."

*********************************************************

Exactly. There was no need for NATO to continue to exist after 1991. But that would have ended the MIC Neocon gravy train. So the Neocons had to create a new enemy to justify continuing NATO and then expanding it. Now FAFO time has arrived for these jerks.

Our Ukraine involvement is truly an outrage.

We really need to stop poking the bear.

If the bear does not want to be poked, he should stay in his own den and not attack others.

How can anybody claim there is an American Empire when the USA has annexed ZERO territory in the last 100+ years. NOWHERE has America forced residents to obtain American citizenship, on threat of deportation, denial of social services, denial even of basic medical care? That’s what Russia is doing in Ukraine, RIGHT MOW.

There was no need for NATO to continue to exist after 1991.

Russian actions since then would indicate otherwise. Which why NATO expanded not because the western nations were pushing it on the eastern European countries, but because the latter begged to be accepted into NATO to protect themselves from Russia.

France and the US are putting ‘advisors’ into Ukraine, as if we haven’t been doing so for mover a year.

The US has been fomenting trouble even before the 2014 elections that’s why we have problems now, of course all at tax payers expense. They tried the same thing not too long ago in Kazakhstan but it was nipped in the bud shortly after they tried.

I get that Biden enjoys poking the (Russian) Bear, but why Johnson?

You don't need to wonder since Johnson said he studied the intel reports and believed them.

Victoria Nuland will roast in eternity.

Yes, but she, and her extended family will flash roast in Chevy Chase before she goes to hell. Unfortunately, many of we actual Americans will also die by the millions thanks to her abject stupidity.

You posted the truth but is means nothing.   Russia doesn't need to consider your opinion?   Why do you think they would or should?   The way to understand reality is to consider how the other guy thinks and react in that regard.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, our so called national interests have rolled right up to Russia's front porch.   We have no idea the intelligence that has been produced behind the scenes that prove to President Putin our nefarious intent.

This is all on us and you have been duped.

Why is Russia so worried?

Keep in mind that, that is Holly Ellyatt of CNBC making that statement since it is not in quotes.

Perhaps it's just a statement signaling what Russia thinks the Biden Administration wants to transpire.

There is something at the heart of the Ukraine funding that goes beyond what we’re being told.
There has to be, because this is ridiculous.
So much money with no explanation except how important it is to support Ukraine?
Unless the real end game is to start a hot war with Russia, which would be the most irresponsible foreign policy mistake in the history of the world.

What’s up with Speaker Johnson?
Looks like he drank the Swamp Kool-Aid, what a shame. I had high hopes for this man.

Well the Bible doesn’t mention the United States as all other players are so it is highly possible it will be taken out early before the last days or so damaged it would be a shell of its former self.
