Trump defends House Speaker Mike Johnson amid ouster threat: ‘Trying very hard’
The New York Post ^ | 04/23/2024 | Josh Christenson

Posted on 04/23/2024 9:13:03 AM PDT by thegagline

“Look, we have a majority of one, OK? It’s not like he can go and do whatever he wants to do,” Trump, 77, told radio host John Fredericks on Real America’s Voice Monday night.

“I think he’s a very good person. You know, he stood very strongly with me on NATO,” added Trump, referring to a campaign rally in which he urged member states to pay more for their common defense — or he would let Russia “do whatever the hell they want.”

“I think he’s trying very hard,” the 45th president concluded.

Johnson (R-La.) bucked the majority of his conference on Saturday and joined with 210 House Democrats to pass $60.8 billion that will assist Ukraine in its war against Russia.

*** “Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing, to resign, and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated,” Greene said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Two other House Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona — signed onto a motion introduced by Greene to vacate Johnson’s speakership ahead of the vote.

All three cited Johnson’s failure to secure the US border amid the growing migrant crisis, while Massie accused the speaker of getting run over by Democrats during recent negotiations on government spending. ***

“Your response to dpetty is uncalled for.”

It is irritating to see people on this site, overwhelmingly for Trump, have to read over idiots engaged in foreplay with leftist democrats in slamming Trump.

dpetty can’t talk for himself?

“He raises a good point.”

The point I am making is that since the whole world of globalists hate his guts, he is doing much more right that he is doing wrong, as opposed to DeSantis, who they bankrolled.

“Is Trump capable of doing anything wrong in your mind?”

Idiots like you can look back at my entire gamut of posts on Trump and you will find that that sentiment has never been voiced by me, or anyone else that I have seen on this site. It is just idiots like you who parrot the MSM talking points that say Trump’s backers are blind followers that believe Trump can do no wrong.

“You sound like an idiot and add insult to injury when you trash a fellow freeper and the best Gov this country has at the same time. Get a life.”

“best gov this scountry has”

That statement obviously means you think that DeSantis can do no wrong!!!

Yep, I just flushed out you idiotic mindless DeSantis-bots.

Get a life??? That is rich, seeing you still want a sexual relationship with DeSantis.

The problem is that at this point Johnson is already a Biden puppet.

While Trump is still the only viable choice to vote for I am really beginning to wonder if we have been set up as part of a very long con.

Donald Trump has been many things: business man, entrepreneur, TV star, philanthropist, etc.

He is now learning to be a politician. (Think House of Representatives this year)

Which he has to do for his very survival.

Wrong. You said “200 Republicans did not vote for it”. That is simply false.

Only 117 Republicans did not vote for it. And that counts the ones voting “Present” and the ones not voting at all.

Trump can definitely do better, and he has, at times to me, seemed to equate attractiveness or net worth, as showing competence.

Defending Johnson is defending the results: No money or action on the border, money for Ukraine AND even Ukraine border. Is this now Trump doctrine?

I said what I said...You read it wrong...All the Republicans (about 200) did not vote for it...only about half did goes without saying...because it’s already written a few times.

.
There are a lot of unknowns with Johnson, but anyone that saw the video after and during the Giveaway $$$ Vote understood that he was having the time of his life!

The Time of his Life.

Like Pence always biting his lip and looking like he was constipated right up
until he could criticize Trump and the Republican base.

Look at Pence’s books. Comey’s books.

They all claimed a higher calling and they were above Trump (and politics), and then you hear Johnson talk and it’s the same exact lines, same tone, same disdain.

It’s weird because yesterday some Freepers were accusing DeSantis of being Johnson’s ally. Today. It’s the opposite.

We live in the real world with real consequences.

The Biden Administration has done profoundly destructive things and their conduct in Ukraine will lead to the defeat of the Ukraine by Russia.

I am totally opposed to how the Biden Administraion has conducted it's affairs in Ukraine because it will ultimately result in the destruction of Ukraine as an independent nation.

The legislation passed by Johnson simply maintains the disastrous Biden status quo and does a lot of other bad things - like 9 billion in support of Hamas in Gaza.

The reality is that it is now May and the election is in November and the next president of the United States is going to oversee the majority of the funding that was just voted on.

I want that President to be President Trump.

Absent the funding that Johnson passed through, the Ukraine WILL collapse and be over run by Russia by the end of the year.

Of course, the Republicans will be blamed and the November elections will be blood bath for the Republicans.

That would be a catastrophe. It's on Biden but who is to blame no matter makes any difference - it's all about trying to salvage the disaster Biden has gotten the world into.

As a practical matter, in the big scheme of things, 60 billion dollars is a small price to pay to hold out hope that we get a new Trump administration in to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine.

This funding will bolster Ukraine's defenses and by the time Trump gets into office , the Ukraine will be stabilized to the point where the best possible deal can be cut to end the Ukraine conflict.

If Biden wins in November , 60 billion dollars makes no difference what so ever because we will be so screwed. We are literally facing national suicide and we will have so many crisis to face we will actually be relieved that the situation in Ukraine is not as bad as it could be.
