Russia breaks through Ukraine front line and captures strategically important town after 'newly-arrived brigade fled their post' in major blow to Kyiv - just as US finally approves huge aid package

Russian troops have reportedly pushed through Ukrainian lines to take the strategic town of Ocheretyne in Donetsk - the latest scoop for Vladimir Putin's forces amid a recent string of gains on the battlefield.

Videos shared on the Telegram messaging app by Russian military bloggers appeared to show the Russian tricolour flying atop a damaged building in the town that once was home to 30,000 Ukrainians.

The town was lost after Ukrainian units fled their positions under heavy fire, Msocow's defence ministry claimed, as a Ukrainian army spokesperson said the invaders were 'using the entire arsenal of weapons available... including chemical poisons,' in their assault.

There’s a huge morale problem with the Ukes. Their upper echelon are selling NATO weapons on the black market and making command decisions far from the front. Their only really effective attack weapons now are armed drones and small arms.

Meanwhile, the Russians are bearing down with air support, artillery, and then after, storm troopers. The Russians are telling them that if they surrender, they will be allowed to live.

If you’re an impressed 18 year old who was put on the front line after a week or so of training, why wouldn’t you flee or surrender? It’s not like you’re going to survive otherwise.

I don’t minimize anything. The Ukrainians are suffering losses that is for sure, but the fact remains the Russians are making gains with loses that are out of proportion for the gains.
When Ukraine launched their much vaunted counter offensive much hay was made out of a dozen or so vehicles lost.
That is a daily reality for Russia l, not a good look for “2nd greatest military”

Will be interesting to see if influx of recently approved US weapons will have an effect on the Russian “victories”

As it stands Russia, even with territorial gains made, still hold less territory than they once did

The breakthrough was caused by a UKR mistake - they allocated too much of their forces to another part of their line, The Russians saw that and took advantage of the weak spot.

However, the Orc troops lack armor and are vulnerable to being put into a pocket.

It takes a special kind of stupid to march into a Russian Meatgrinder wearing a tin hat

the only tin hats worn these days are left over ones from WWI, like yours and are lined with tinfoil.

Everybody else wears either steel hats or carbon fiber hats.

I beleive that his point has more to do with the “aid” or “loans” to Ukraine. Russia today has mostly new equipment replacing the old Soviet era stuff - but we are sending Ukraine stuff build by Reagan or for Afghanistan and replacing the US Military’s old equipment with Next Generation Equipment. The aid to Ukraine is a simple accountly Debit-Credit line item swap out. The reality is that Ukraine is being charged the price of the M-4 replacement Rifle when they get a 30-year old M16A2. Or a M113 or a Bradley is sent but they are charged for Striker going to the 4th Infantry Div in Colorado.

The entire backstory to this war is an economic gambit by Western leaders who bought up Ukraine, and continue to gain more rights to more of what’s left in Ukraine - kinda like you putting your house down as security for a home improvement loan - if you don’t repay the loan with money (and you don’t have an economy) then they sell the house and give you some more worthless money when they get paid back. You are out of a home but they in turn buy your old home. Now you rent. Multiply this scheme by all NATO countries using a line-item debit and credit system to re-equipment their force at a huge discount. Send Ukraine 4-5 F16s and then you buy a F35; you need fewer planes with each generation and Russia destroys the old equipment.

In my entire lifetime I do not believe that any war has been created or fought simply to enrich a bunch of countries who get the rights to another countries land and at the same time re-build their militaries’ on the cheap. Disgustingly enough but Obama and Biden simply make me sick.

2012: NATO began arming Ukriane immediately or concurrent with the Coup that overthrew the pro-Russian democratically elected government. The United States was well prepared and within a few months the USG/Dept of State/Dept of Commerence had used several dozen favored companies like Blackrock to secure the rights of most of the economically viable segments and facilities to run a country.

The final straw in the Ukraine timeline shows Blackrock (and others used by the USG to rape Ukraine finanically) have approximatley 350-450B USD in assets they are now writing off in Ukraine - (Following the money): Blackrock and the other “investors in Ukraine” were the first one’s approved the Bitcoin ETFs.

Bitcoin is being used by Blackrock to re-balance their asset sheets. Debit-Credit line item. Write off Ukraine, buy Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is going to have a nice run simply because of the Ukraine war. Bitcoin would have hit 170K this year with a 1% investment of US financial company assets for retirement accounts alone. 3% takes it 500K. By 2026 when Ukraine is defeated, Bitcoin will be worth 400K to 1.3M depending on world-wide investment pressure by governments approving ETFs.

So yea, Ukraine is getting old generational equipment to fight an enemy who is now as well equiped as what NATO is moving towards. Gotta love the CIA, the DNC, and the Globalists - they smell blood and make money; they see blood and they get rich.

Is there still a greater chance of Russian civilian aircraft failures

Of course. They have bought some Boeings. The Tupelovs don't seem to be having unusual problems.

It was the M1A1 in WWII and became the M101 in 1962, I’ve used it and liked it a lot.

I think that’s silly and if policy is being made on the assumption that the Russian army would colapse in a week or two that’s pretty wreckless. Who knows with the bunch in power though (including milirary leadership). The US “struggled” with Afghanistan for 20 years and couldn’t overthrow the Syrian government. Syria, as a matter of fact, openly defied all red lines. I think the lesson to be learned by all of this is the one lesson that won’t be learned. All the military power in the world will not subdue a populus who is willing to fight back. A wiser people would consider moving all their expenditures to missle defense systems and stop burning money with offensive crap that can be fooled by some smoke and overcome by a few drones.

No one said a few weeks, and to your point unlike iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Ukrainians are willing to do the fighting

The salient point about the conflict now is that more weapons and money won’t change anything on the ground. Ukraine is short on manpower to use those weapons. Without more cannon fodder, Ukraine will continue to lose territory and the tempo of loss is increasing.
So, who is going to send troops and how many?
