Ukraine faces challenges that are "almost insurmountable" in the face of a growing military initiative from Russia, according to a retired British Army officer.

And, amid uncertainties created by the potential election as president of the US in around months time of Donald Trump, who is against providing further military support to Kyiv, as well as war fatigue developed in the West, Ukraine doesn't have much time left to resist to Vladimir Putin's troops, he suggested.

I don’t know what to think about WHO is winning but Ukraine is not using the billions given them smartly and according to reports is stealing a lot of it from the President on down.

My opinion is cut funding and if NATO won’t put some troops on the ground and get in the fight FOR REAL then they deserve to speak Russian from now on. To hell with all of them, particularly Putin.

“Ninety billion bucks down the crapper.”

I suspect closer to $300B to $500B because SOMETHING is giving us $4T deficits now.

Good point. Maybe they just spent the last 790 days warming up and preparing for battle. They just needed to get rid of hundreds of thousands of their men, and tens of thousands of vehicles, and some jets, AWACs planes and ships.

Now that they are really ready to fight they can spend the next month trying to capture some village in the middle of nowhere.

Ukraine has many years to live. Zelensky’s government may not last much longer, but Ukraine itself, with a Russia-friendly gov’t, might last for decades.

So, to survive Ukraine must kowtow to Russia?

When our pro-Putin posters get busy it usually means either that there are extra servings of pelmeni on the cafeteria menu, or something bad happened to the Russian military.

Were those ATACMS strikes in Crimea and occupied Ukraine really that bad?

When Russia finally gets done with it, hopefully it should save the US taxpayers a pile of money. As mentioned several times in the past, before Russia gives up on Ukraine hell will freeze over. They may have given up on Afghanistan as they figured it wasn’t worth it an instead “Let the fools rush in” and sure enough they did and left with their tails between their legs, but Ukraine is a different story altogether.

Unless the US is hell bent on starting WW III as this conflict has long ceased to be between Ukraine and Russia and was entirely between US and Russia as the US has fomented this conflict way before the 2014 elections very similar what they tried in Kazakhstan not too long ago, but it was nipped in the bud. These poor Ukrainian conscripts have served and continue to serve as cannon fodder for some Ill guided and fantasizing Ukrainian politicians. In some ways similar to what our politicians got us in, in Vietnam getting American kids killed and maimed for what?

No they need to get to January when a new Congress is sworn in.

Try looking at what the federal government actually spends money on. The spending on Ukraine is a drop in the bucket - and that bucket is actually in the USA where the funds go to American citizens working in the defense industry.

When the USA transfers an obsolete missile to Ukraine it is accounted for at the replacement cost, even though the missile itself is worthless to our military. And then Raytheon, or BAE, or Boeing gets paid from the Ukraine appropriations to build a brand new missile for the US to keep.

And then instead of spending tax dollars to decommission the old missile it gets launched and destroys some Russian equipment.

Your knowledge of Ukraine is limited. Ukraine has fought against Russian domination and exploitation for a long time. And they will keep fighting.

Even after Russia took over Ukraine in 1945 the Ukrainians fought against Russia for many years.

Ninety billion bucks down the crapper.

The defense industry is very happy, however, as well as they politicians that are going to get kick backs from it.

The defense industry thrives while Ukrainians die.

“They just needed to get rid of hundreds of thousands of their men”

Read the NY Times, as they FINALLY start to tell the truth regarding the lack of Russian losses.

Russia seems in FAR BETTER condition to survive than the US, considering our national debt, not to mention just being kicked out of Africa (Niger, in particular) and now getting SPANKED, badly, in Ukraine. Hopefully Trump puts the Neocons on trial for this crap.
