An Arizona grand jury has indicted former Donald Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows and lawyer Rudy Giuliani along with 16 others in an election interference case.
The indictment released Wednesday names 11 Republicans who submitted a document to Congress falsely declaring that Donald Trump beat Joe Biden in Arizona in the 2020 presidential election. It shows seven other defendants whose names were not immediately released because they had not yet been served with the charges.
The Associated Press was able to determine the identities of the unnamed defendants based on their descriptions in the indictment.
One is described as an attorney “who was often identified as the Mayor” and spread false allegations of election fraud, a description that clearly describes Giuliani. Another is described as Trump’s “ chief of staff in 2020,” which describes Meadows.
“I will not allow American democracy to be undermined,” Democratic Attorney General Kris Mayes said in a video released by her office. “It’s too important.”
The 11 people who had been nominated to be Arizona’s Republican electors met in Phoenix on Dec. 14, 2020, to sign a certificate saying they were “duly elected and qualified” electors and claiming that Trump carried the state. A one-minute video of the signing ceremony was posted on social media by the Arizona Republican Party at the time. The document was later sent to Congress and the National Archives, where it was ignored.
Biden won Arizona by more than 10,000 votes. Of the eight lawsuits that unsuccessfully challenged Biden’s victory in the state, one was filed by the 11 Republicans who would later sign the certificate declaring Trump as the winner.
Their lawsuit asked a judge to de-certify the results that gave Biden his victory in Arizona and block the state from sending them to the Electoral College. In

“So it really was a fraudulent claim...”
The claim may not have had aqequate legal merit at a particular time or place where that would have been necessary.
But by no means does that necessarily render it “fraudulent”.
You concede waaaaay too much.
LOL. I feel like I am back in 1959 listening to the John Birch Society.
Ken Chesebro has been repeatedly identified today as a witness for the Arizona government in this case, rolling on the others. That’s not a good development.
Except that only the Governor can certify the electors. Anything else would be a fraudulent claim under law. If you or I start creating our own election certification documents, and then submit them as authentic, we would be committing fraud.
Trump did win but AZ democrats cheated. Just because they get their phony partisan judges to throw everything out doesn’t mean they won fair and square... They didn’t, not at all.
If we keep letting this stuff go on, then soon we’ll have a govt that’s as bad, or worse than Communist China’s.
It is pretty literally fraudulent though. The lawyer for the PA Republican electors clearly saw the problem, and added language that protected them.
What ended up happening in AZ and few other states was knowingly, fraudulently, they submitted their certificate of ascertainment. They did it so Pence could say, there are two sets of votes, we can’t count the votes for Biden.
Somehow this account knows about electoral discernment but didn’t know alternate electors date back to at least 1876.
Talking points some of which are completely false allegations vs knowledge.
Best of luck.
Bullspit! This is all to silence any opposition to the steal! Don’t question or off to the gulag! Constitutional and Bill of Rights violations writ #BIGTIME.
"It'll even scan a batch of blank ballots and vote for whoever you tell it to"
For example: You can collect 960 mailed in ballots for Trump, and [administratively] mess them up enough to *force 'adjudication'* and then shred/trash those Trump ballots . . . and then substitute 960 pre-printed blank ballots and "administratively adjudicate" the blanks, for Biden.

Georgia man challenges eligibility of 13,600 voters [May 12, 2022, AP News]
Frank "Schneider said in an email to Mandi Smith, director of [Forsyth County's] voter registration and elections department, that he compared Forsyth County's voter rolls with the U.S. Postal Service's National Change of Address database and found that 13,609 have an address that's different than the one listed on their voter registration."

[EXCERPT:] Of those challenges, roughly 11,100 were successful - at least 2,350 voters were removed from the rolls and at least 8,700 were placed in a "challenged" or equivalent status, which can force people to vote with a provisional ballot that election officials later adjudicate.

Thanks for your concern, but I’m quite familiar with the history of alternate electors. I’m also familiar with the law that requires even alternate electors to be certified by the governor of the state they represent. In the Hawaii case everyone loves to invoke, both elector slates were certified pending the final vote count there. It was all above board.
To whom was the alternate AZ certification submitted, and by whom signed
.....and they will cheat again in November unless the GOP can find a way to stop them.
Great post. It is a shame, but every bit of your graphic caption is 100% true. The FBI is the modern-day Stasi/KGB/Gestapo all rolled into one. Hitler and Stalin are smiling from hell.
>The claim may not have had aqequate legal merit at a particular time or place where that would have been necessary.<
A question for the judge and jury:
These guys signed a lawsuit claiming a fraudulent election. A judge said NO so they lost the case. They are now being charged for bringing the lawsuit.
If they win can the people charging them now also be indicted for falsely claiming they were fraudulent?
EC
And what was the crime?
You could expand that to other things to cause conspiracy's
in other things in life as we know it.
I would agree, Judge Bean, but the robed Gestapo is way too quick to throw things out for lack of standing. Seems to be the catchall they fall back on when they don’t want to actually review a case.
