I thought India, Canada, and the UK (and other former colonies) were part of one Commonwealth that made it easy to migrate bewteen them? Why the desire to illegally enter the US?
The article tells me why they want to enter the US. But not why they do it illegally.

They have brought back the no documents fake refugee claim, late of the Mulroney era.
They fly to Canada, flush their passport down the toilet, make a refugee claim, get released on a “promise to appear” and run across the border.
