NEW YORK (AP) — New York’s highest court on Thursday overturned Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction, finding the judge at the landmark #MeToo trial prejudiced the ex-movie mogul with improper rulings, including a decision to let women testify about allegations that weren’t part of the case.
The state Court of Appeals ruling reopens a painful chapter in America’s reckoning with sexual misconduct by powerful figures — an era that began in 2017 with a flood of allegations against Weinstein. The court ordered a new trial. His accusers could again be forced to relive their traumas on the witness stand.
Weinstein, 72, has been serving a 23-year sentence in a New York prison following his conviction on charges of criminal sex act for forcibly performing oral sex on a TV and film production assistant in 2006 and rape in the third degree for an attack on an aspiring actress in 2013.

So women testified he raped them but since it had not been proven, it was hearsay? Judge shouldn’t have let them testify. This seems familiar but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Perhaps the prosecutors shouldn’t have put on the women who were not part of the case. Dumb move.
If everyone can get past their conspiracy theories here, we see that Harvey Weinstein didn’t get a fair trial. Many of the same things they are doing to Trump they did to Weinstein. MeToo was not about getting Trump, it was part of the same slow slide into lunacy that this country has fallen into. Harvey Weinstein was not a patsy to get Trump, he was an expendable part of Hollywood so they could embrace their latest cause and feel good about their decadent and hedonistic way of life. Most actresses would suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch to get a part and not think twice about it. Probably many actors too. Weinstein may very well be guilty of rape and sexual assault, but his trial was a travesty that did not allow him to provide an effective defense.
It wasn’t hearsay but it was uncharged character evidence which is generally not considered relevant under most rules of evidence and thus inadmissible.
How has he not been shanked yet ?
How come none of the actresses were put on trial for trading sex for multi-million dollar roles?

NY’s Court System continues to prove itself to be an absolute JOKE
Weinstein was the classic nerd in high school. The pretty girls wouldn’t never even look at him. Then he is a big movie maker and is surrounded by beautiful, ambitous women who will do just about anything for roles. Weinstein is no paragrim of virtue but most of these women when they copulated with him knew exactly what they were doing.
They got convicted him in LA and NY. This overturns NY but not LA. He’s still going to be rotting in jail.
Harvey Weinstein was thankfully, the only guy in Hollywood who had a casting couch... Ever! Wink, wink.
Sadly, we have him to thank for Gwyneth Paltrow... I think we could’ve gotten by without her, but a BJ here and a BJ there and now she sells perfume scented like her vagina. Pardon me while I puke!
