I increasingly feel that feminism has failed my generation. It is a peculiarity of the West that it is divided into sets which differ profoundly in their beliefs. This state of affairs began with the Reformation and has grown more pronounced ever since. There were Protestants and Catholics who differed fundamentally not only on faith but on practical matters. It was among Protestant communities that feminism first emerged, and it is in Protestant countries such as America and Britain in which feminist beliefs have been at their most vocal and strident in tone, like a religion with no dilution of agnosticism. Margaret Thatcher, though she would have denied it, was a feminist de facto, and no Catholic country could have produced her like.

Where, for instance, does it leave women like me, when we have reached the age of 54, as I have, and find ourselves both single and childless? Hugging the collected works of Proust, or engaging in furtive sojourns to the pub that bring remembrances of things pissed? One in 10 British women in their 50s have never married and live alone, which is neither pleasant nor healthy.

We also are very uncomfortable developing a romantic attachment to a lady because we don't really know how to behave or interact. So we think, "better safe than sorry."
No offense, cuz there are plenty of wonderful ladies out there, but neither of us have encountered any as of late that we would feel comfortable being open with. I'd rather we'd just be friends.
I didn’t have my old children mainly due to medical problems back then but ended up raising my step- granddaughters (two still here with me). God found a use for me after all!
Huge damage, well maybe not to sales of SSRIs, boxed wine, and cat products.
Nice find.

Pretty much. You know what though, at least I have quiet evenings. I prefer that. Helps me keep my sanity.
Slight correction.

Might be useful to also throw in the word "misandrist" occasionally.
Regards,
And by that, I don't mean "an equestrian."
Regards,
I think you are right. There are women who dislike men.
As you can guess, I was concentrating on women who hate that they are women, but there is that component.
Ugh. It is rather disconcerting to contemplate women who not only hate themselves because they were born female, but also at the same time hate men.
You know who is a PRIME example of that?
Hillary Clinton.
And you can’t find bitter married or divorced women (or men?
Statistically, men are better off emotionally if they are married (or maybe men are married if they are better off emotionally?), but women report being happier and less depressed if they are not.

How many people wouldn’t be here if an aborted baby had been allowed to live before them?

What you talkin’’bout Willis?
The number of young women and couples who would have stopped popping out babies sooner if they’d brought those aborted to term.
