The Biden EPA’s Plan to Ration Electricity. New rules are designed to eliminate fossil-fuel power plants. Energy scarcity is sure to result.

The Biden Administration’s regulations are coming so fast and furious that it’s hard even to keep track, but we’re trying. On Thursday the Environmental Protection Agency proposed its latest doozy—rules that will effectively force coal plants to shut down while banning new natural-gas plants.

“With the announcement today, the power sector can make planning decisions with a full array of information,” EPA’s press release declares. Translation: Get moving with the green-energy transition because we’re determined to eliminate fossil-fuel power.

Barack Obama’s regulation spurred a wave of coal plant closures. Now President Biden is trying to finish the job by tightening mercury, wastewater and ash disposal standards. EPA is also replacing the Obama Clean Power Plan that the Supreme Court struck down with a rule requiring that coal plants and new gas-fired plants adopt costly and unproven carbon-capture technology by 2032.

Section 111 of the Clean Air Act says the EPA can regulate pollutants from stationary sources through the “best system of emission reduction” that is “adequately demonstrated.” Carbon capture is neither the best nor adequately demonstrated. As of last year, only one commercial-scale coal plant in the world used carbon capture, and no gas-fired plants did.

Your post # 84, supports the fact that there is so much waste material in the construction of windmills.
I can hardly imagine what generations a hundred years from now will say about the constructs we leave behind,
not to mention even the fiberglass blades that no longer serve any useful purpose and are NOT bio-degradeable.

It’s really simple.

The more dependent democrats can make the average person on the government dictates (for energy and everything else), the more power it gives them.

I don’t anticipate a realistic threat to Shasta dam any time soon.

If ever.

7,000 square miles of farm land depend on that dam.

I didn’t expect a realistic threat to cars, electricity, or America..... but here we are.

Wind farms are not only an incredible environmental disaster, I forgot to add they are also an absolute economic disaster (except, of course, for those farmers, and others, getting big, big bucks from the government putting putting them on their property .

We already get monthly “shaming” letters that tell us we use more electricity than our neighbors. With suggestions on how to use less and also to hook up our smart tstat to their network so they can turn down the juice.

That is true in general. Lies, deceit and propaganda are the tools used by the Left to control everything. Its effective because the sheeple are easily misled.

Good Lord, the Germans have been at this for decades and look where it got them...

The mercury regs are nonsense because we already have higher contamination drifting here from China, than what we ourselves now cause even right beside coal fueled power plants. Case in point is the Baldwin Power Plant and lake (large cooling lake) southeast of St. Louis, MO. That lake’s fish have possibly the lowest mercury levels in all of IL. The lake is right beside the power plant, and supports a dense population of catfish. It’s the only lake I know of where, if* I caught a catfish over 20 lbs., I might keep the thing to eat. (The lake is a perched, mostly shallow lake, and the wind and catfish tend to keep it a bit stirred up. Clarity is only about average for a lake in the US’ mid-west. I’ve only fished it 3 times, as it’s a bit of a drive and the scenery rather boring — the only real attraction is the lure (pun intended!) of catching big, low mercury catfish, as the fish growth rates are exceptional for the US Midwest.)

Naturally, no UN-naturally, Biden’s regs still get this plant shut down soon, and fishing will decline. The nearby town, Baldwin, will die too - the plant is the only major employer. The coal will still get burned - probably in China. Bah!

This likely energy rationing is why I will not buy an electric vehicle — it’s too easy for government entities to limit private vehicle driving for those with EV’s.

Thanks to Hurricane Hugo, most of my local gas stations have generators, even the new ones. I live by Middle East US military standards on vehicle fuel. Never have below half a tank.

The end goal is to cull the herd of the weak.

Nope their plan I fear, is to replace the strong with the weak and they are well on the way to success.
