The White House condemned the violent takeover Tuesday of a building at Columbia University by pro-Palestinian activists who had previously been warned to take down their encampment or face suspension from the institution.
The occupation of a building, which included three janitors being held hostage, was just the latest among dozens of protests and riots at universities across the company, some of which have included antisemitic rhetoric and violence.
Notably, Biden blamed then-President Donald Trump for a wave of violence in 2020 when the Black Lives Matter movement, which was backed by Democrats, launched protests that turned into riots in dozens of American cities.
“Does anyone believe there will be less violence in America if Donald Trump is reelected?” Biden said in August 2020.
Biden also supported anti-Israel protesters last week, saying while he condemned antisemitism, he also condemned those who did not understand the Palestinians’ grievances — implying that the activists had a legitimate point.

At this moment, the Biden administrations head hogs are colluding snout to snout preparing a linkage from the university riots to Trump. Something about Jan 6, chaos caused by Trump rhetoric lowering the bar for suitable behavior, etc.
Agree the media is the fuel for the fire.
Except, as we were sitting here, he’s trying to stay on both sides of the issue. Supporting their protest, while also condemning their occupation of the university building. It’s not gonna work.
And these riots will be the gift that keeps on giving from now until at least January.
And they're only going to get worse. We haven't seen anything yet. The Chicago convention is on track to make '68 look like a frat party. And if Trump is leading the polls on Election Day, watch out. Cities across the country are going to be on fire.
These riots are planned by the leftists so Joey can end them and show the world how well he handles problems. Just in time for the election.
The darlings burn their own cities and schools. The only complaint I have is that, as a taxpayer, I have to pay for the repairs. I personally don’t care if Columbia U burns to ash. It has produced the most radical America hating evil bastards like Barry Soetero. Once these darlings burn their restaurants and Uber eats won’t deliver to their “CHAP” zone they will starve.
They’d call them PLM (Palestinian Lives Matter), as Hamas continues to deliberately put Palestinian civilians in harm’s way. Jewish lives in Israel, however, do not matter squat. Being in Israel, I take that personally.
Yaakov Meridor, the founder and one-time head of the Irgun, was caught by the British in the midst of his wife and children, hiding out on a hotel roof (not much rain in summer). Rather than jeopardize the latter, he simply surrendered, and none of his loved ones were hurt. He was transported to prison in, I think, Sudan, from which he and his comrades eventually escaped, walking up the African continent until they reached Israel just in time for the War of Independence.
No such consideration from Hamas for civilians. But somehow the onus of honoring the 4th Geneva Convention never rests on them. Only Israel.
What riots. Those were mostly peaceful demonstrations, except for the firebombs, barbed-wire laced baseball bats, frozen water bottles, and occasional gun play.
But those were definitely Trump’s fault. Yup./sarc
