Genocide? What genocide?

The only Genocide I have seen among all of this is when Hamas Parachuted into a music festival and stared indiscriminately murdering Jewish people of all ages and genders.

I must have adopted the WWII Nazi concentration camp type of genocide as the standard for scale and scope, but our 'teacher' was the actual history of it, by which all subsequent claims of genocide would be measured against.

I think it can be said that what Hamas has been doing is along the lines of genocide. The plastic fantastic campus pussy protesters are technically incorrect when they claim that the IDF and Netanyahu are genocidal.

Hamas seems intent on committing genocide...But I grew up believing that a key criteria for genocide (Dachau, Auschwitz, etc.) would be mass murder with prominent and overarching elements of hate for the victims' ethnicity and nationality. It wasn't until I was in my mid-30s that I had even heard of "hate crime", but now it has a legal definition.

If we are to accept a new definition for genocide then what is the new criteria? Could it be that the murders of Emmet Till and James Byrd Jr. were genocidal or were those just prime examples of simple hate crime, falling short of meeting traditional criteria for genocide?
