Voters don't like Biden's economy — but why?
ABC news ^ | 04 30 2024 | Monica Potts

Americans have been sour on the economy since President Joe Biden was sworn into office. As we head into an election season that is likely to be a 2020 rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump, voters give Republicans and Trump an edge on economic issues. An April 12-14 poll from Echelon Insights found that 57 percent of all voters somewhat or strongly disapproved of the way Biden is handling the economy, and favored Trump on making the economy work better by 48 percent to 40 percent. That's only a recent example of what surveys have routinely shown: Voters aren't happy with Biden's handling of the economy.

But what exactly are voters disapproving of? What do they mean when they talk about the economy? Therein lies a disconnect between most economic indicators that economists consider — things like GDP, the unemployment rate, job growth and inflation — which are all looking up, and how voters feel. When voters measure economic well-being, they're much more likely to use more personal metrics, such as how easily their family can meet their basic needs. That can be more of a feeling than an exact calculation, and right now, the Biden reelection campaign is battling the general sense that everything has gotten a little bit worse.

I'm not all that well-read on finance, but for me interest rates are a pretty good indicator of what's happening to the economy.

Mortgage rates hovering around what, 7.nn percent?

Not good... it can go one way, or the other...

Or a McDonalds here in CA to admire the high tech automation and congratulate the sharply reduced workforce how they like their $20 minimum wage. It’s not just Biden; rat economic policies are magic wherever they’re applied!

Dear Monica, there are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics. You fell for the worst, and most pernicious kind of lie.

The big picture: inflation is a nightmare for Americans. With stagnant wages that have failed to keep pace with price increases, Americans have not been able to adjust to the higher cost of living. Average hourly earnings for all employees dropped 2.5% to $11.11 in March 2024 from $11.39 in January 2021 when Biden assumed office.

Since January 2021, prices have increased by 18.8%, while real wages have declined by 2.5%. According to some estimates, Americans need an extra $12,828 a year to make ends meet.

The biggest reasons are
1) Economy - inflation, costs of goods materials and services
2) Open Border and public safety (Crime)
3) International messes Biden has us involved in

Not a little bit worse, a whole lot worse. That’s why voters don’t like FJB’s economy.

But why? Well, it sucks is why. Monetary aggregates and your idiotic jiggered inflation numbers hide the real impact that inflation has on the productive members of US society. There is no way you can print money and hand out oodles of free stuff to invaders who you invite in to take free stuff and not have a severe negative impact on the economy. IDIOT or LIAR or BOTH?
