Republicans trailing in key Senate races even as Trump holds leads
Washington Examiner ^ | April 30, 2024 | Jack Birle

Former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in most polls in key swing states, but in many of those states’ pivotal Senate races, GOP candidates are lagging behind.

An Emerson College-the Hill poll released on Tuesday shows Trump leading Biden in seven swing states, while in five of those states’ Senate races, the leading Republican candidate is behind the Democrat.

In Pennsylvania, the former president holds a 47%-45% lead over Biden, but Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) holds a 46%-42% lead over GOP challenger David McCormick. The Senate race has narrowed in the Keystone State in recent months, according to the pollster, with a February survey showing Casey holding a 10% lead.

In Wisconsin and Nevada, both incumbent Democratic senators who are attempting to fend off Republican challengers are leading, while Trump maintains a lead over Biden. In the Badger State, Trump leads Biden 47%-45%, while Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) leads Republican Eric Hovde 46%-43%. In the Silver State, Trump has a 45%-44% lead over Biden, while Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) has a 45%-37% lead over Republican Sam Brown.

In open seats currently held by senators who caucus with Democrats, Republicans are also trailing the Democratic candidates, according to the survey.

In Arizona, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) leads Republican Kari Lake 45%-43% in the Senate race, while in the presidential race, Trump leads Biden 48%-44%. In Michigan, Trump leads Biden in the presidential race 45%-44%, while in the Senate race Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) leads former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers 42%-40%.

In the five of the states where Trump is leading, he lost to Biden in 2020, and in all those states, except Wisconsin, Republicans have lost the most recent Senate races in either 2020 or 2022.

doesn’t surprise me. Reps have taken a big old crap on it’s base, so I know I’m reluctant to vote for them

Those aren’t too bad numbers at this point. As to the presidential I’d remind everyone that, at least as far as I can remember, the dem ALWAYS leads the GOP at this point, and it’s often been by a very healthy margin. These narrow leads for Trump are extremely ominous for Biden

Pretty sure jackee rosen will keep her seat in the SINate. Vegas and Reno will let the other NV counties know what’s best for them. No WTF required.

Stories like this are all were going to see between now and election day.
Then when the House and Senate are stolen with fraudulent votes no one will be surprised !
Democrats have us watching every illegal move against President Trump while they prepare to make the Steal of the House and Senate.

The Susan Collins, Murkowski, Tillis, Graham, Thune, Joni Ernst have all been MIA when they’re not helping Biden.

There hasn’t been a Biden Resistance, to the contrary, they love him. Makes for a challenging environment.

No surprise what so ever.
Trump fights for us.
Our Republican Senators don’t.

I will remind everyone here that in 2016, I believe every winning Republican Senate candidate won his state by a larger margin than Trump’s win over Hillary Clinton in that state.

And that was a year when so many Republican seats were being contested that the Democrats thought they were almost guaranteed to win the Senate.

I guess the RINOs shouldn’t have stabbed the base voters in the back since Reagan died. 46 long years of betrayal. Republican voters hate the Republican Party, I know that I do. I will vote Trump or nothing.

After the election I hope Trump starts a new political party.

Taking out CASEY is a near impossible task in PA... only way McCormick can win PA is if Trump wins the state huge and his coat tails drag him over the finish line..

McCormick is just another Wall Street Country Club card carrying WEF member McRomBush candidate. His ads are trying to play him up as something else, but he’s just more of the same old RINO crap this state’s GOP always offers up.

The Senate races are going to be NASTY. WV is guaranteed to go GOP, so that puts the Senate at 50/50 so Democrats are going to be uglier than ever trying to make sure GOP doesn’t get 51, so they can keep control should Biden win the White House....

OH get ready, you are going to see some of the nastiest crap you have seen in a long time in that race next door.

The map favors the GOP big time this election cycle for the Senate, and no sitting GOP candidate is in trouble, so it will be a beyond nasty cycle in any race that is close, just insanely nasty.

End of the day the GOP should take the Senate, but its going to be INSANELY ugly... The know they are at 50/50, already... Biden wins the have the tiebreaker, Trump wins they don’t. I would expect the GOP to pick up 3 or 4 minimal this cycle, but we’ll see.

However you better believe its going to be NASTY.. particularly in Trump states that have a Dem Senator up for election they are going to be throwing everything and the kitchen sink at the GOP candidates trying to hold the line.

Yeah but too many RINO’s have been betraying their base, so this year may play out much differently. I don’t blame any conservative who sits out because when they do vote, they’re betrayed.

Outside of Trump, republicans suck.

They're not all bad. I like all the members of the Freedom Caucus like Gaetz, Boebert, etc.

And Rand Paul in the Senate.

Democrats will rig the Senate races they need them to stop Congress from passing anything of worth and make it harder for Trump to get things done time to purge the Senate democrats.

Time for Americans to stand up or live on your knees.

After the election I hope Trump starts a new political party.

On the platform, I would make term limits mandatory.

2 terms in the House. 1 term in the Senate.

No primary challenges in the house. They don’t deserve to keep it. Trump as POTUS should resign 2 years into his 2nd term to set him up for ‘28. Legal?

Jan-2026. “Offer” to resign if there’s a major purge of rinos in the ‘26 primary season.

Name recognition early in the campaign. Incumbents below 50 percent are good signs for challengers.
