The right-leaning news and commentary site Daily Wire obtained a gag order against former host Candace Owens despite co-founder Ben Shapiro claiming he wanted to publicly debate her about Israel and antisemitism, according to a report.
The Daily Wire secretly sought to muzzle Owens through a private arbitrator after she left the company in March, wrote Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald in his Locals newsletter on Thursday.
The gag order was approved as Shapiro and Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing were publicly negotiating with Owens on an agreed-upon venue, date and time for a debate that had been widely anticipated by readers and viewers on social media.
Boreing told Greenwald that his report “is inaccurate to the point of being false.”
He did not elaborate.
“I’m sure you can appreciate how fraught a high-profile break-up like this is. For that reason, we are trying to resolve our issues with Candace privately,” Boreing is quoted as telling Greenwald.
Owens told Greenwald she “can neither confirm nor deny” his report.
“I wish I could comment on this but I can’t.” she said:
The Post has sought comment from Daily Wire and Owens.
According to Greenwald, the gag order bars Owens from making any comments that could disparage Daily Wire or be perceived as harming its reputation.
An arbitrator agreed with Daily Wire’s contention that Owens’ social media posts on X challenging Shapiro to a debate while questioning his views on Israel were “disparaging,” Greenwald reported.

What could be more appropriate than Ben Shapiro’s publisher, essentially, being called Boreing?
This is pro-wrestling type drama. Except nobody cares about this feud. The two of them should be embarrassed or at least suplex somebody.
Is it just me or does anyone thinks it’s ironic for a news site to want to have a gag order on the former press employee?
I ignore Daily Wire. They aren’t a free speech outfit.
Decades ago, when I watched pro wrestling, I once saw someone perform a triple suplex.
If Ben Shapiro and the Daily Wire are where conservatives go for information, I suggest a mental health checkup ASAP.
Ben is the problem. He is always the problem. He is an arrogant narcissist.
You can see how the words of Candace Owens offended Ben Shapiro. Ben was obviously very traumatized by the HAMAS attack and takes it very personally. I don’t understand how Israel can get attacked and then be accused of being the aggressor as Candace implies. The war would be over this second if HAMAS returned the hostages and surrendered unconditionally. Until then, the war isn’t over. Pretty simple
Regarding free speech. The Daily Wire is a Publication not a social media forum...like X or Truth Social or Facebook. They are under no obligation to publish her words (or anything else for that matter) that they feel conflicts with their values.
Finally, this is Ben Shapiro’s second high profile dust-up with a well-known commentator. Not sure what this means....

True. But that's not what this story is about.
Owens challenged Shapiro to a debate. Shapiro publicly agreed, but privately refused. Then the Daily Wire (which Shapiro runs) got a gag order against Owens, forbidding her from discussing that Shapiro won't debate her despite agreeing to.
The rationale is that Owens's employment contract forbids her from disparaging the DW, and the DW's arbiter ruled that the manner in which Owens challenged Shapiro to a debate was disparaging and thus a violation of her contract.
Her termination is not the issue.
It means that he takes the mantra “Never Again” very seriously.
He doesn’t take anti-semitism lightly.
Shapiro doesn’t run the Daily Wire. He’s an Editor Emeritus.
The managing CEOS are Jeremy Boreing and Caleb Robinson. The 4th founding partner is Ferris Wilkes who was is the major moneybags of the four.
So do not assume that it was Shapiro behind silencing Candace. My bet is on Robinson who is a marketing and social media expert.
I cannot listen to his voice.
