Trump denies saying states could monitor women's pregnancies to enforce anti-abortion laws

Former President Donald Trump is refuting claims that he told a Time magazine reporter that states might monitor women to see whether they had had an abortion.

“I never said that ’some states may choose to monitor women’s pregnancies to possibly prosecute for violating any abortion bans.’ This was made up by Democrats and the Fake News Media,” Mr. Trump posted Sunday on Truth Social.

“After 50 years, Abortion is now up to the States, where everybody, Republican and Democrat, plus all legal scholars and experts, have wanted it to be,” he said. “The people choose, and many States, like Ohio and Kansas, have chosen. Many others are in the process of choosing.”

His social media post comes after he’s been criticized for a statement he made in an interview with Time last week. In the interview he was asked if “states should monitor women’s pregnancies so they can know if they’ve gotten an abortion.”

“I think they might do that. Again, you’ll have to speak to the individual states,” he said in the interview.

When asked again whether he would be comfortable with state’s monitoring women’s abortions, he said it’s up to the states and it’s “totally irrelevant” if he’s comfortable with it.

Democrats were quick to respond to the former president’s comments.

“Donald Trump’s latest comments leave little doubt: If elected he’ll sign a national abortion ban, allow women who have an abortion to be prosecuted and punished, allow the government to invade women’s privacy to monitor their pregnancies, and put IVF and contraception in jeopardy nationwide,” Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden campaign manager, said in a statement.

Mr. Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, revealed last month that he didn’t favor a federal abortion ban, and that the decision should stay with the states.

This is related to that Biden ad showing an Alabama state trooper giving involuntary pregnancy tests to women attempting to leave the state.

I was unaware of that, but it is clearly criminal on the part of the state trooper.

Person denies someone elses statements that the other says it’s mostly not correct except for the part that is sort of. Much of the other statements are close but considered erroneous though they might be OK. Except the ones that are not.

I didn’t read the part about being a Biden ad.

So it never actually happened, they just made it up.

Very easy to clear up since the several interviews for that article were apparently recorded. If it is not on the tape, then it didn’t happen, Time should apologize.

Hollywood talent made that ad and it is very effective scare tactic. Assholes like Linda Graham don't help either/

The Donkey Party and the Deep State (is there any difference or distinction?) operate in a truth-indifference zone. The truth is whatever they say it is at any given time, changing fluidly as needed without public announcement or institutional shame or embarrassment.

It’s really a new day in Orwell’s America.

2024 is looking to be one hell of a rollercoaster ride.

It is way past time for Trump to cease walking into the MSM snake pit, to give legitimacy to the frauds in the MSM as if they are trying to ask sincere questions, when their whole game is to set him up for a smear. He could tell them that two plus two is four and they would twist it into a smear. I mean, he reminds us of that constantly. Whenever he, or any Republican does that, it is the democrat party he is talking to, not reporters wanting information.

Why would he want to grant time to a Times reporter who will twist anything he says? He will spend the next two weeks trying to untangle the set up questions he is asked.

I remember when Romney was asked by George Stephanopoulos if Republicans wanted to outlaw birth control, etc. And the idiot Romney took it as a sincere question and actually went into the weeds to answer, rather than just say, “go to hell” in some maybe more polite fashion.

The Supreme Court justices don’t climb down from their exalted positions to give account to anyone since they have immunity; elected democrats would not dare face a hostile interview; in fact, no one in government will do it except Republicans, and for whatever reason, I don’t know.

The media are scumbags. Trump said it’s a states issue. These pukes take that to mean states could pass a law that says a woman must staple her clitoris on the 43rd day of each Pregnancy then they say Trump is ok with that because it’s a states issue. Then the woman at the view amplify that message then a RINO says Trump has a suburban woman issue. Rinse and Repeat.

Imagine being an entire party which controls just about every lever of society from Hollywood to business and your entire campaign to keep a guy in office is the right to unlimited abortion and your opponent is a bad guy
