Alvin Bragg’s Case Against Trump Is Imploding Fast

It was a bad week for Alvin Bragg and his case against Donald Trump. There's no other way to put it.

For starters, Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, may have made a critical error that could reverse the Trump verdict upon appeal by allowing prosecutors to make certain arguments.

"Last week, during an appearance on 'Fox & Friends,' GWU law professor Jonathan Turley told Fox News that Merchan made a mistake by allowing Bragg's prosecutorial team, which former Biden administration official Michael Colangelo is leading, to say unequivocally that Trump was involved in federal election law violations."

"That jury has now been told repeatedly that there are federal election crimes here, strongly suggesting that the payment to Stormy Daniels did violate federal election laws," Turley explained. "That’s just not true.”

He cited the recent overturning of Harvey Weinstein's conviction for similar reasons as precedent.

But even the actual allegations against Trump are falling apart. Keith Davidson, the lawyer representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels, testified that the $130,000 payment to Daniels should not be construed as "hush money" but rather as a legitimate "consideration" payment. Davidson also testified that Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was "despondent" when he didn't get a White House job after Trump won the presidency in 2016.

And then there was the testimony of former Trump aide Hope Hicks. Many in the media tried to paint her testimony as damning for Trump, but even she undermined the allegations against him.

Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett called Hicks' testimony an "epic miscalculation" by the prosecution. "The moment cross-examination began, their misbegotten case against the former president began to collapse," he explained.

Not so. Not enough people who dare to rise.

I would say he is more like Antaeus. No matter how many time he gets knocked down, he keeps getting up. He gets his power from his base. The persecutors are trying to hold him up with BS lawfare to drain his power.
Interesting story, I haven’t heard it before.

Turley probably knows that the jurors are set to send guilty to the court, but perhaps he means that it’s falling apart in terms of the next step, appeal. Might be hard for the leftists to judge-shop with such a demonstrably pathetic case.

This is not about the case being reversed on appeal. It’s a given that with the absurdity of the charge and amount of judicial error that it will be reversed. This is about getting a conviction BEFORE the election to hurt Biden’s opponent in a forum shopped case with a Democrat judge before a heavily Democrat jury who knows what he is doing to push a conviction is going to get him reversed upon appeal AFTER the election.

Who will change their mind and not vote for Trump if he is convicted, vice who will vote for him if they take the perceived lawfare to conviction?

I’m not sure a conviction is going to help Biden at all.

Those doing this have been flummoxed by Trump’s rise in the polls every time he is indicted. The same might be true for conviction.

Lately I've been getting daily spam text msgs about how "our records" don't show that I've registered to vote anywhere. I keep deleting and reporting them as spam, but since the DOJ and FBI are busy carrying out political persecution instead of busting robocallers -- not to mention this is probably some leftist NGO scam -- nothing is getting done. Beware.

Although a conviction may help Biden for a few days of news cycle in the short run, I don’t think a conviction will help Biden in the long run either. I do think when they started these 4 lawfare cases, the game plan was to get convictions in friendly DC and NYC forums before the election. And then turn it over to their allies in the MSM to push the Trump as felon narrative nationally. As it is turning out, most folks are beginning to realize the lawfare scheme and the wheels are beginning to fall off

Turley may also be thinking that no reasonable jury would convict based on the evidence that was presented, so Trump's lawyers would motion the judge to set aside the jury's conviction and make a summary judgement to acquit.

A conviction is a done deal. Trump might win on appeal but “at that point what difference would it make?”

You are immersed in an interactive theatre production.

Pretend you are writing the script. How would you explain the suicidal compulsion of hundreds/thousands of RINOs, Dems, denizens of the Federal "interagency", Hollywood products, institutions such as the FBI and DOJ, most of the media, towards stopping Trump by any means possible?

For each individual in the above categories, what makes them march in step? Is there really THAT much money being thrown around? I can't believe it's only cash, there must be an even stronger motivation because any price can be topped. I also can't believe the cabal is relying on blackmail videos to keep hundreds/thousands of people in line, it's logistically ludicrous.

There is something else, a secret that keeps it's self and which compels utter devotion. When we find it, we will have it all.

I think it speaks for itself. The deepstate/uniparty is imploding and unmasking. Its all part of a large operation to wrest control back into the hands of the people. Trump said “I am going to destroy the deep state”. Sadly that includes probably 80% of the so called Republicans. That is what is in progress.

I fully expect events to become more and more chaotic throughout the summer until we reach some kind of crescendo that will bring on an intervention and a postponement of the November election. But I also believe that everything that is happening is being controlled by Trump at some level.

Its obvious to many of us that Donald Trump has never really left office. He’s acting in some capacity as President or CIC whatever you want to call it.

But lets face it who else is riding around in a full presidential motorcade with ambulance and a 20-30 motorcycle state police escort? Who else is entertaining world leaders at Maralago and Trump Tower like full state visits? Who else is sending his own emmisarries abroad to meet with foreign leaders and openly bragging about it? The DOJ could have charged Trump with violating the Logan Act which really is a crime. Why didn’t they?

Just like Bill Clinton is white trash - Alvin Bragg is black trash.

How do we know that?

Because Alvin Bragg’s turned the Majesty of the Law into a outhouse the culture takes a dump in...

Falling apart?
Doesn’t matter.
A corrupt democrat judge will ensure that a corrupt democrat jury will come in with a guilty verdict.

What’s going on now is stalling as long as possible to keep him from campaigning, then vote him guilty..

This article at this link is a pretty good read:

“Prisoners of Themselves”

https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/prisoners-of-themselves/

” You realize, don’t you, that the gross misconduct of government officials from RussiaGate on down to the courtroom of Judge Juan Merchan has amounted to one continuous operation against the American people? If it were ever honestly adjudicated, many hundreds of them might go to prison, or worse. Each successive seditious and treasonous action they attempt against their arch-nemesis, Mr. Trump, only compounds their criminal liability — the Steele Dossier, CIA agent Eric Ciaramella’s 2019 impeachment prank, the Covid-19 caper, the George Floyd-BLM hustle, the 2020 election hijinks, the J-6 op and the House J-6 Committee conjured up to spin it, the present battery of farcical court cases — and yet the Golden Golem of Greatness not only remains defiantly at large, but seems to amass ever more electoral mojo.

The epic failure of these mighty efforts, and the humiliation entailed, has lately driven this vast bureaucratic cabal — collectively styled as “the blob” — to a stage of abject desperation that looks a lot like insanity. They fear for their lives, their fortunes, their chattels, and their families, and they seem ready to wreck the republic to save themselves. They have so far pretty much wrecked American justice with their lawfare tactics — a degenerate campaign to use the vested authority of prosecutors and judges to twist and cheat the law at the cost of the law’s legitimacy. Merrick Garland, Norm Eisen, Andrew Weissmann, Mary McCord, Lisa Monaco, Marc Elias, Christopher Wray, Letitia James, Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg have made law the enemy of the people.”
