Prof. Shai Davidai, a lecturer at Columbia University, which recently suffered from violent anti-Israel protests, published an open letter to Israeli academics expressing his concern for their imminent harm.
"To all my friends who research and lecture in Israel, it's hard for me to say this, but it's important that you know. You will be the first to be harmed," Davidai
He mentioned that "The processes are already in motion and although you don't feel it yet, it's coming. And when it arrives, it will be too late to act".
"It will start almost without you noticing. Articles that won't be accepted for publication and lectures that won't be accepted at conferences. Professional organizations that will endorse boycotts. Seminar lectures that won't take place. Sabbatical years that will be harder to find. And research funds, of course," he added.

I get your point, but I also get his. The Nazis didn’t send the Jews to camps as soon as they took power, but rather nibbled away at their freedoms slowly.
Jews cannot teach in a government school. Jews cannot teach in a private school. Jews cannot own a car. Jews cannot ride in a car. Jews cannot use trolley cars. Jews cannot own or ride bicycles. Jews cannot carry suitcases.
Each step a small one, bearable even. But by the time they realized how much trouble they were in, it was too late.
If what we are seeing on campuses today continue, the murders beatings, etc will follow.
You are a hundred percent right. But if this professor is only concerned with his position and privileges in academia, he’s an awful weak line of defense. Those “hurt first” was that innocent girl who was stabbed in the eyeball with a Palestinian flag, or the one beat to death with a bullhorn. The water is boiling. Time for the frogs to bail.

Even so, his statement illustrates that his priorities are wrong. If he’s the face of the pro-Israel movement, Columbia is in deep sh!t.
