Of course it was. Judges have powerful effect and often time their schedule to favor one side or another. Always look for a bifurcated examination and sometimes even a closing argument. We had one judge here who was famous for having closings on Friday afternoon when the jurors are exhausted and the final rebuttal on Monday morning when they had forgotten everything the defense said on Friday.
