Russia celebrates victory in World War II as Putin accuses the West of fueling global conflicts

Russia on Thursday wrapped itself in patriotic pageantry for Victory Day, as President Vladimir Putin celebrated the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II by hailing his forces fighting in Ukraine and blasting the West for fueling conflicts around the world.

Even though few veterans of what Russia calls the Great Patriotic War are still alive 79 years after Berlin fell to the Red Army, the victory remains the most important and widely revered symbol of Russia’s prowess and a key element of national identity.

Even though few veterans of what Russia calls the Great Patriotic War are still alive 79 years after Berlin fell to the Red Army, the victory remains the most important and widely revered symbol of Russia’s prowess and a key element of national identity.

Putin has turned Victory Day — the country’s most important secular holiday — into a pillar of his nearly quarter-century in power and a justification of his military action in Ukraine.

Two days after beginning his fifth term in office, he led the festivities across Russia that recall the nation’s wartime sacrifice.

“Victory Day unites all generations,” Putin said in a speech in Red Square that came on the coldest May 9 in decades amid some snow flurries. “We are going forward relying on our centuries-old traditions and feel confident that together we will ensure a free and secure future of Russia.”

As battalions marched by and military hardware — both old and new — rumbled over the cobblestones, the sky cleared briefly to allow a flyby of warplanes, some of which trailed smoke in the white, red and blue of the Russian flag.

So it was not much of a surrender as an acknowledgement that there was nothing left to fight for.

Ukraine? St Z the corrupted comedian sold out his country. The best example would be Mussolini, I fully expect expect St Z to meet Mussolini’s demise. With Ukraine arresting two top Ukie colonels planning St Z’s assasination, you can bet there are many more in the shadows.

Sadly, I have to agree too.

Russia has been meddling in our affairs for at least 100yrs.

Putin funded the anti fracxking protests that led to the NY ban.

Communists and Marxists are currently destroying our nation.

We’re to blame for his Ukraine invasion! By jacking up oil prices on climatescam energy policy similar to the 2013 oil spike that led to 2014 Crimea invasion.,,,,and absolutely nothing else.

No, it's globalists, some of which are leftists, that are destroying our nation. And, it's bipartisan destruction that involves raiding the Treasury, open borders and using our foreign policy to enrich themselves and the defense industry while endangering the rest of us.

Russia isn't among the top 100 problems facing this country. The Russians would absolutely leave us alone if our elite weren't determine to cause color revolution there and raid Russia of money and assets, just like its done in Ukraine.

NATO is nothing but a money laundering machine for the elite.

You're totally clueless as to the real enemy -- WEF globalists, including notoriously evil George Soros.

Wrong. We setoff a civil war in Ukraine by fomenting an illegal coup there. Those in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk voted for the President that was illegally-driven out of office and absolutely had right to their independence and to join the Russian Federation. And, that's what they did and they aren't going back to being part of Ukraine again.

So, like or don't like it, start learning to live with it.

We absolutely have been the aggressor in Ukraine. We fomented an illegal revolution. We installed puppet government hostile to both the ethnic Russian population in Ukraine and to Moscow. We trained, funded and armed a 600,000 man Ukrainian army. And, we running biolabs with deadly pathogens in them in Ukraine.

If China or Russia had done that in Mexico, we WOULD INVADE, JUSTIFIABLY.

You're lying, ignorant baboon. We've closer to a hot war with Russia, nuclear war and WW III than were were during the Cold War because of idiots like you.

The separate surrender on May 9th was an insult to the western allies.

Gee, I wonder what color the air is on your planet?

WE fomented and installed NOTHING. The majority of Ukrainians were fed up with living under Russia’s boot - the rest were ethnic Russians in the eastern oblasts being subsidized, stirred up, and ARMED by Putin to separate in the hopes of creating a frozen conflict that would preclude Ukraine from being admitted into the EU and NATO, which the MAJORITY of Ukrainians support. But democracy or rule of law doesn’t matter to you or the monster Putin, does it?

Your crazed support for Putin and his brutal regime has damaged your brain, so facts no longer matter to you.

Putin is Hitler - a megalomaniac war criminal and a douchebag. If that’s your hero, what does that make you?

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, however, in 2008 Putin has stated that Georgia & Ukraine were red lines as far as he was concerned, with regard to NATO expansion. No different then when Nikita Khrushchev tried to send nukes to Cuba to aim at us.

Because Britain and France wouldn’t agree to give Poland to Russia, which was a condition of Russia siding with Britain and France. Hitler gave them half, and that was good enough for them.

Georgia hasn't been annexed.

Those in Crimea, by CHOICE, joined the Russian Federation after an illegal coup we fomented drove a President out that the majority of those there voted for.

Using Crimea as an example is absurd.

Part of Chechnya wanted to be part of the Russian Federation after the fall of Soviet Union and that faction won out.

A little original joke:

Why did Putin want to become the evil, ruthless dictator of Russia?

Because he was too nice to be an HOA president!
