Does RFK know what he believes on abortion?
The Spectator ^ | 05/11/2024

Independent presidential candidate and former Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. admitted this week that he supports “full-term” abortions. In a sit-down interview with former ESPN reporter Sage Steele, RFK said that while he doesn’t think women should abort their children in the eighth month of pregnancy or beyond, he wouldn’t prohibit them from doing so.

“Even if it’s full-term,” he said, later adding, “I think we have to leave it to the women rather than the state.”

RFK’s position is extreme, no matter how you slice it. The majority of Americans believe there should be some restrictions on abortions; only 37 percent believe abortion should be legal in the second trimester and just 22 percent say it should be legal in the third trimester. It also complicates recent claims from Democrats that “no one” supports abortion up until the moment of birth (an already provable lie since Virginia Democrats supported a bill that its chief sponsor admitted would legalize abortion until birth).

RFK’s stance will also effectively kill any crossover he may have enjoyed with the populist right or Trump supporters, likely a welcome development for the Trump campaign, which has been hammering RFK in recent weeks as his support has ballooned and he’s made his way onto the ballot in several swing states.

Does RFK know what he believes on abortion?

Whatever he thinks will get him elected, as with most politicians.

Some people used to think he was kind of cool. But it seems the worm has turned.

Yes he does. As somebody said in another thread, liberalism is the ideology of hedonism. Giving parents the full choice to abort until birth is an outworking of the idea that people owe it to themselves to have the fullest and most enjoyable life for themselves.

As an aside, it’s also why liberalism supports deficit spending, regardless of the cost to later generations.

The Kennedys believed in politics and government. Which makes them great Democrats because that’s the only thing the Democrat Party stands for: politics and government.

He wasn’t aware “full term” could mean a choice of the mother.

The question is... What does the dead worm in his brain think about abortion? According to the Bee, RFK’s dead worm is polling higher than Biden in 11 states.

When a worm enters your brain to feed on it, and then dies from starvation... What does that say about your brain?

Likewise, who are we to say that parents can’t choose to terminate their infant, toddler, child, or adolescent? Isn’t it THEIR choice what to do with the products of THEIR bodies?

Oh, I should amend this. Only the woman should have such a choice. Men have no right to say what a woman does with the products of HER body, even if they are genetically half his.

Sounds as if he would be in favor of denying medical care to babies born alive after failed attempts to end their lives in utero.

FWIW, Obama voted for that while in the Illinois Senate. So, it’s apparently not anything that necessarily renders futile a national campaign for U.S. president.
