You can buy generators for the entire house, or small ones that may do a couple of appliances. If you want to do the entire home, likely need to tap into the power box and set up the swithces. However, for small one, you simply start them, and plug your appliance (freezer, frig, etc) directly into them with an extension, bypassing the power box, so no need to hire electricians.

Understand. Going full bore on a problem that only happens once every few years is not financially provident.

I see a few propane (dual fuel) generators on Facebook Marketplace I think might be just the ticket.

My brother, the mechanic, laughs at me for how many gas-powered things I’ve ruined over the years—garden tractors, tillers, lawnmowers, chainsaws, weed whackers...

My research show propane won’t have this kind of old fuel problem, and yes I do use gas stabilizer.
