DOJ requests judge order Steve Bannon to begin prison sentence

Federal prosecutors on Tuesday requested the judge overseeing ex-Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon's criminal contempt of Congress case to order that he begin his four-month prison sentence, after an appeals court last week upheld his conviction.

Prosecutors said there is no legal basis for Judge Carl Nichols to continue the stay on Bannon serving his sentence after the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals' conclusive ruling that rejected the basis for Bannon's appeal on all grounds.

"Consequently, there is no longer a 'substantial question of law that is likely to result in a reversal or an order for a new trial,'" prosecutors wrote in their filing Tuesday.

Why isn't Eric Holder serving a jail sentence?

Oh, that's right: he's a Democrat!

Why can’t the Republicans just cancel the Jan 6 subpoenas and render them all null and void?

The Jan 6 committee was merely a democrat smear initiative. It was unconstitutional from the beginning.

He could appeal higher. If Scotus rules in favor of presidential immunity, then that changes Bannon’s case, I would think.

I think Congress has a 9% favorability rating, leaving 91% of America contemptuous of them.

That's such 1991 thinking. Congress (and all of our elected officials, frankly) are puppets of Permanent DC. The disdain should be for the Permanent DC, not for the puppets.

Heh, that is what I always say. Kash Patel would be awesome at rooting out Deep Staters...:)

A robust law degree/experience is secondary. There are plenty of people who have those qualities and can serve on his staff.

We need someone who knows where the Deep State roaches goes.

Peter Navarro tried the same legal strategy and was shut down by both the DC Circuit and the Supreme Court. There’s no reason to think Bannon won’t have the same outcome.

Second. Kash has the experience necessary, knows where the bodies are buried, hatred for the deep state, and has already publicly expressed a willingness to go scorched earth on them.

Turn the man loose and let him cook.

Not quite. Constitution claims President and VP can’t both receive electoral votes from the same home state. If both can win without both getting those electoral votes it’s perfectly fine for them to be from the same state. If, for example, Trump were from ND and picked Gov. Bergum for VP, ND’s 3 electoral votes might not make much difference. Vote rich FL is another matter, unless one is sure of a landslide. In 2000 Dick Cheney officially moved from TX back to WY. Had he not we’d have had President Bush and VP Lieberman.

Said Inquisitor should also charge the numerous covered individuals guilty of insurrection as provided by the 14th, and after at least as good of due process and in at least as fair a venue as has been used against Trump, convict them thereof and thus remove them from their varied offices without further actions by voters or legislative impeachments required. Further judicial penalties may still be applied as merited. There’s no other practical way to remove all the judges and legislators who have proven themselves unfit for office. Many of the southerner officials who left the union were less guilty as many such still adhered to the principles under which the nation was founded and honestly thought the then current government had forsaken them. Those guilty now, despise the founding principles.

How about Ken Paxton of Texas? He was done wrong by the rats and I’m pretty sure he has an axe to grind. Let him go after everyone.

I’ve always thought Fitton would be perfect. Then I read the qualifications, and the AG MUST be an attorney; Fitton is not.

A SCOTUS member doesn’t have to be an attorney, but an AG does. How does that make sense?

I’d LOVE Mike Davis, but he’s said on War Room he isn’t interested. As any good MAGA patriot would do, I think he’d accept the position if he were to be asked.

“AG would be perfect for DeSantis.”

NFW! We’ve already had two traitors in that position. Do we really need another one?!? Especially as DeSantis is a known quantity, when Sessions and Barr could’ve gone either way.
