Judge to consider legality of holding detainees at Guantanamo base

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A federal judge has agreed to consider a petition backed by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark and other civil-rights advocates that challenges the detention of suspects at the Guantanamo base in Cuba.

U.S. District Judge A. Howard Matz scheduled a Tuesday hearing on the matter, the first court challenge of the detentions. The petition alleges violations of the Geneva Conventions and the U.S. Constitution. It demands the government bring the suspects before a court and define the charges against them.

The judge must decide whether a U.S. District Court, typically restricted to a geographical area, has jurisdiction over prisoners held in Cuban territory leased to the U.S. government.

It seems that U.S. District Judge A. Howard Matz was a Clintoon appointee. He may recognize no limits on the power of District Court judges (especially those who coincidentally happen to be named "Howard Matz").

I think that Judge Metz ought to hold that the detainees' treatment at Guantanamo is inhumane and that they should be kept instead at Erwin Chemerinsky's house.

True enough, but this judge certainly knows that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals can limit his jurisdiction. If they don't, Rehnquist, Scalia, et al, surely will.

The Clintonoids and liberal Dems and all the trial lawyers are PROVING their true colors - with every passing day.

THEY WANT THE TERRORISTS TO GO FREE TO KILL AMERICANS AGAIN!

Why?

1. To hurt President Bush and Republicans

2. In order to "win" control of the House in November.

They are proving that they care nothing for America or Americans - as long as they "think" they can extend their power.

They are proving they are terrorist-enablers through and through and my assertion from the start the the Rats had a direct part in 9-11 still stands. Barbara Olson is not dead by "coincidence". 9-11 did not happen "by accident".

The RAT Party is proving it is the pro-terrorist party - it was then - it is now - and every Republican with any GRIT will stand up and say so!
