My high school physics teacher said either nothing will happen or we'll all fall over dead due to the B fields in our brains being reversed. Haven't heard anything about it from my college physics profs.

Compasses would not work very well during the shift, which most people would not care about since we use GPS nowadays

More important, though, would be the effect on migratory birds, who seem to be able to directly sense the earth's magnetic field, and use it for navigation. See article

There was a pretty believable Novel written in the '60's called "The HAB Theory;" a "Magnetic Pole Shift" implies a "gyroscopic tumble" of the entire planet---REALLY BAD STUFF!!

The Novel was RIVETING--& VERY "believable!"

"God Help Us" if this disaster happens; NO Human culture could be prepared for such an event! A "Flip of the Magnetic Poles of Earth" implies a Physical, Gyroscopic "Tumble" of the ENTIRE Planet!!

If we do not have viable "off-Planet Colonies" if & when such an event happens, Human Civilization will be "Set Back" 10,000 years!!

I've NEVER SEEN a better argument for manned Space Travel!!
