She thinks she’s heroic for tramping around the Amazon with a shovel?

Try running a business in Brazil, honey, you need be not just an archeologist but a forensic scientist, lawyer, magician and hypnotist to function there. I finally understood Plato’s Allegory of the Cave only after trying to run a legal business in Brazil...

Apparently in 2002 you could post a huge chunk of a book without excerpting. If the author went very deep into uncharted Amazonia she had pull. The Brazilian govt jealously guards its indigenous population and protects it from outside influences (except perhaps mining and logging interests.) There are still (supposedly) primitive tribes living in the Stone Age lost in the Amazon jungles.

The History Channel has been running a series about lost Amazonian civilizations, but so far it hardly seems to merit a series.

Brazil keeps the contact down to a minimum so no one outside Brazil can report on what goes on there. Smart move, IMHO.

***Brazil keeps the contact down to a minimum so no one outside Brazil can report on what goes on there***

I read a couple of books by explorer G. Cope Schellihorn (sp ?) who lacked much weight - or dinero (I don't know the Portuguese). He seems to fall far short of Percy Fawcett.

American cities are being destroyed by tribal black matriarchal societies rely on on grandmothers for cohesion. The grandmothers raise the children of the sons and daughter who have abandoned the lessons of civilization for the ancient African village.

The cohesion of civilized society has fallen apart in 2020.
