BILLY MCKINNEY (Incumbent) | 672 | 23% | |
PATRICK STAFFORD | 118 | 4% |
Noel's lead may be too big even for the Bankhead Highway precincts (the 8 remaining uncounted) to make up. (If the number of votes for Billy McKinney exceeds the number of registered voters in the precinct, SOMEBODY is going to be suspicious, even Cathy Cox our compliant Dem SOS.) Unless those precincts are HUGE, and he gets 100% turnout . . . I'm beginning to feel a little more optimistic, though we're not out of the woods yet . . .
You cannot imagine how mad the Vinings people were at being put in Billy's district. There was a John Noel sign on almost every yard, signs on the street corners, signs exactly 151 feet from the polling place on every side, signs on cars, trees, buildings, slow moving dogs . . . well, you get the idea. I talked to John Noel's dad who came down from Tennessee to help his son, he had a folding chair exactly 151 feet from the NE corner of the library, every square inch of his car festooned with signs, a nice shady hat on his head and a bottle of water near to hand. Very nice guy . . . . plus, he's a PADDLER! We talked rivers after we finished talking politics . . . :-D
