A lot of these discoveries are made by amateurs, especially Japanese amateurs. Anyone have a description or pictures of some of the setups these "professional amateurs" have? I'm sure some of them run well over $100,000.

""Certainly binoculars will aid in spotting the comet and exposing any tail that it might show." "

If you use binoculars to gaze on exposed tail in Arizona, you face lifetime registration as a sex offender!

I hope we don't read about a simultaneous sighting by some kid who really prefers to study sunspots...and start hearing about what would happen if a hot fudge sundae the same size hit the earth.....

Comets are a sign of impending DOOM!
In a few months we will be closer to Mars than
we have been for 75,000 years.

Mars is the planet of WAR!

2003 will rock and roll so lock and load

These surprises are another reminder of our fragile mortality. One good hit and God gets to start all over again.

Out of curiosity, has anyone actually seen this comet? I did a pretty systematic search arount the S&T predicted position on the morning of 12/31 and saw nothing with naked eye, binocs or a spotting scope. The sky was clear and very dark (I live way out in the country)

Well, it happened again, and I know I promised. I just can't get used to these "socially responsible" trigger locks. I was hoping nobody's notice, but you guys don't miss much...except for...oops...forget I said that.

Where's "DELETE"...oh..here it is
