JPost reporter: Morale is high with the US 3rd Infantry Division

Jerusalem Post Reporter Caroline B. Glick told Fox Television News in an interview today that "morale is extremely high" among soldiers of the US 3rd Infantry Division operating in southern Iraq.

"The men are just spectacular fighters. They know what they're fighting for is important. Looking along the Euphrates River, Iraq is a country with a lot of potential under the proper leadership," said Glick, who is accompanying the troops on their mission in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

On Sunday the soldiers captured a suspected chemical weapons plant near the town of Najaf, some 150 kilometers south of Baghdad. The exclusive Jerusalem Post report has been widely reported by the world media, and given prominence on Israeli radio and television stations. Israel has been on a chemical warfare alert since the onset of the war last week, fearing Iraq could unleash nonconventional weapons as part of its resistance against coalition forces.

If there was one thing wrong with "Black Hawk Down," both the book and the movie, it was that it "dissed" the regular line divisions of infantry, putting them behind the Mountain Division, which was then behind the Rangers, which was then behind Delta Force. Basically I finished that book with the impression that our main combat divisions were not that good---even though I knew in my heart that wasn't true. This proves that these guys are tough fighters, and take a back seat to no one.

Boy, isn't that neat. BTW - why are most of the up-lifting stories coming from foreign reporters?

There was a thread this morning about this journalist. She writes for a Jerusalem newspaper, and the Kuwaitis apparently issued an edict that any reporter for an Israeli paper would be jailed. She entered Kuwait as a reporter for a sister paper in Chicago, basically deyfing them to question her.

She has seen lots of Islamic attrocities where she lives and appreciates those who are willing to face the evil of Islam.

Beyond that, I am super impressed with the 3rd ID. All our trooops deserve our respect and thanks.

I heard this news babe interviewed on Fox by phone, so we weren't able to see her.

She struck me as very, very young and air-headed. True, she got a scoop here, but I wouldn't trust a whole lot of what she says.

Here's a superb British news babe I would like to see immediately deployed: http://www.garrawench.cjb.net/

LOL, being the mother of a special ops guy, I don't have the same perspective on that news babe you recommended. ;-)

However.... if she turns you down, give her my son's phone #.

Back to the issues. I have been living and sleeping in front of the TV the past 5 days, but left it for a while tonight. I didn't hear Carolyn Glick. I was just impressed that she wanted to be there covering the war in spite of the legal risks she faced. Too bad she is an airhead. Wonder if we could get any of the Hollywood airheads to go over there for photo ops.

Oh no, she is no airhead. Smart as a whip. She has quietly made some of the big announcers look and sound like complete idiots. She is just low key about it. One asked her if they found the chemical plant on a mission specifically to find it, or just stumbled across it. She said "no, we were not ambushed by a chemical weapons plant." I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

She sticks to reporting things she knows and avoids idiotic questions, and she obviously understands the war, who she is with, what it is about, how it is going, etc. Three quarters of the international press can't begin to say any of that. In fact, the only one so far I've noticed (among the media types, mind, not the experts) is conspicuously smarter in the coverage to date is Tony Snow.
