Coulter Touches Taboo Topic: Hillary Below Waist
June 24, 2003
Ann Coulter's new book is out, and it is skyrocketing up the Amazon charts and everywhere else. Last Friday on my program, I made a prediction. I said, "Wait until the liberals get this book. Joe McCarthy is the hero, the guy that saved America, according to Ann Coulter in this book. I mean she's just going to destroy some of these liberal myths that they have been living with for all these years. This is, among many things, not just a defense of McCarthy, it is full-fledged pedal to the metal praise for McCarthy. And I think it's going to cause, if it isn't already, some real angst out there on the on the left."
So Tuesday, Ann Coulter showed up at Good Morning, America, where Diane Sawyer drew the honor of interviewing, and we put together a montage of Diane Sawyer describing Ann Coulter. It's sort of mild, but it suffices as a prediction come true, that the left would have some problems here. You can hear it in the audio link below, as well as some of the questions and answers. Now, you need to know this about Joseph McCarthy, I remember shortly after this program exploded on the national scene, many of the nation's leading TV hosts wanted to interview me to find out if I was human, find out where I came from, find out what I ate, find out who raised me, find out if I really believed all that I believe, and one such person was Tom Snyder. The first thing Tom Snyder demanded to know was what I thought about Joseph McCarthy. That was the litmus test and boy, I had to have the right answers, or I was going to get creamed.
Coulter's whole book is not McCarthy. She touches on many other subjects as well, and Sawyer asked her about how her book will stand up against Hillary. Coulter said, "Well, I think she has a three to one pound advantage over me, but we'll see." Sawyer didn't like this at all. You just don't talk about Hillary below the waist, folks, in any way, shape, manner, or form. If you're out there at a cocktail party with a bunch of liberals, whatever you do, don't ask them if they've ever noticed that Hillary only wears pants suits.
Don't do it, folks. You have no idea what you're in for. Ann Coulter got real close here bringing up this three to one weight advantage that Hillary has when it comes to books.

"Hillary bashing is one of our few guilty pleasures and forms of recreation" Besides, it is cathartic. After all, hatred of the Clintons is the one thing that pretty much all FReepers agree on. It would be most unsettling to lose our punching bags.

"I would think that Ann would avoid a personal attack based on physical appearance..." I would have to agree.

"A political pundit- against a former first lady, a sitting Senator, and an author whose work has been hyped for over a year by every known media outlet in a way normal authors could only dream of- is accused of sparring?" I considered that angle as well.

I bought Ann's last book at Books-A-Million. It was on the front rack with a 30% discount. I haven't seen this one yet. Too busy working. I will probably check next week. Besides, I have a Books-A-Million discount card.

The first thing Tom Snyder demanded to know was what I thought about Joseph McCarthy. That was the litmus test and boy, I had to have the right answers, or I was going to get creamed. That line of questioning is a real softball:
"Well, Tom, when Joe McCarthy and his original chief counsel Robert F. Kennedy decided to investigate the presence of communist infiltrators in the highest levels of our government....."
That's all the answer you need in order to get the scumbags foaming at the mouth. After that, you can say anything. The scumbag liberals always forget about McCarthy's original chief counsel until you remind them.

I just bought the book and can hardly wait to read it. Coulter was obviously talking about the relative, 3 lbs to her 1 lb. book, comparing the heavier fictional POJ by Hitlery (and assorted ghost writers) vs the lesser weight of Ann's book . I enjoyed hearing of Sawyer's discomfiture, however, as she misunderstood.

Somewhere, I have saved the actual issue of Spy with that photo. Wish I could find it.

I'm not sure that that's entirely true. A book that's already number 3 on Amazon obviously commands broad interest, and certainly the clerk at Borders I spoke to was incredulous that there were only going to be twelve copies in the store--she said, "It's going to be one of the hot books of the summer." So even here in liberal Maryland, Ann Coulter's work is known. I mean, her previous books were bestsellers, and the publishing industry knows that; whether she's as well known as Dave Barry or not, there's no reason to suppose that this new book won't do stunningly well, too. My suggestion is that there may be some subtle sabotage taking place.

Have you pre-ordered Reflections: Life After the White House, yet? I'm looking forward to that one, too.
