What I noticed is that when I called Borders to reserve a copy, their computer showed that they had ordered only twelve copies. Hard to have a real bestseller if the large chains refuse to stock the book or make it difficult to find. And, no, it doesn't have a 30% off label on it, as Hillary's does. Does anyone think this is an accident?
It is no accident. Hillary is known by everyone in the country -- whether they love her (leftists), hate her (anti-leftists), or ignore her (most people). But everyone knows who she is. And she is controversial. So that means sales. Therefore, they are going to stock her books.
But Ann? Outside of FR, and the folks that watch Fox news, not very many people know about her. If you watch CNN and read the Chicago Tribune, you have never heard of her or heard anything she has ever said. If by some chance you had heard of her she would just be "one of those columnists". Ergo, the books stores are not going to assume she is going to be a big seller. Now, if a lot of people start ordering from a local bricks and mortar store, the store will probably start buying some. Otherwise, most of the sales will be online sales. Face it -- more people have heard of Dave Barry than Ann Coulter.
