I wonder how good an idea it is to release 15 million-year-old microbes thousands of feet into the atmosphere.

That was pretty much the first thought that crossed my mind too, but they don't seem too concerned.

They are scientists. They clone sheep. They cross-polinate species. They cross-transplant organs--and organisms. All just to see what might happen. One day they will release a Pandora's Box, assuming they haven't already.
