Good morning, 68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub.

And good morning to everyone at the Canteen and to all of our military personal at home and abroad. Thank you very much for your continued service to our country.

It's been hot and sunny the last few days here in Oklahoma but we are crossing our fingers for rain later this week.

Morning Mr. Hawk. That is one very wise man! That's when you know you have a born salesman on hand!

Well, here's a little exercise warm-up for you ........

But....Honey!

Paul returned from a doctor's visit one day and told his wife Alma that the doctor said he only had 24 hours to live. Wiping away her tears, he asked her to make love with him. Of course she agreed and they made passionate love. Six hours later, Paul went to her again, and said, "Honey, now I only have 18 hours left to live. Maybe we could make love again?" Alma agrees and again they make love. Later, Paul is getting into bed when he realized he now had only eight hours of life left. He touched Alma's shoulder and said, "Honey? Please? Just one more time before I die." She agreed, then afterward she rolled over and fell asleep. Paul, however, heard the clock ticking in his head, and he tossed and turned until he was down to only four more hours. He tapped his wife on the shoulder to wake her up. "Honey, I only have four hours left! Could we...?" His wife sat up abruptly, turned to him and said, "Listen Paul, I have to get up in the morning! You don't."

GOOD MORNING DIVA. GOOD MORNING TO OUR AWESOME MILITARY AND OUR ALLIES! I AM READY TODAY......

And in the true tradition of war, let's tell a joke (he he)....

Three dead bodies turn up at the mortuary, all with very big smiles on their faces. The coroner calls the police to tell them what has happened. "First body: Frenchman, 60, died of heart failure whilst making love to his mistress. Hence the enormous smile, Inspector", says the Coroner. "Second body: "Scotsman, 25, won a thousand pounds on the lottery, spent it all on whisky. Died of alcohol poisoning, hence the smile." The Inspector asked, "What of the third body?" "Ah," says the coroner, "this is the most unusual one. Billy-Bob the redneck from Alabama, 30, struck by lightning." "Why is he smiling then?" inquires the Inspector. "Thought he was having his picture taken."

Today's classic warship, USS Black Hawk

Uncle Sam class sidewheel gunboat
Displacement. 902 t.Lenght. 260'
Beam. 45'6"
Draft. 8'
Armament. 4 32-pdr. S.B., 2 30 pdr. R., 1 12-pdr. R., 1 12-pdr. S.B.

USS Black Hawk, a 902-ton side-wheel "Tinclad" river gunboat, was built at New Albany, Indiana, in 1857 as the civilian steamboat New Uncle Sam. She was purchased by the Navy in November 1862 and commissioned the following month under her original name. Soon renamed Black Hawk, her large size made her especially suitable for employment as the Mississippi Squadron flagship, and she served in that capacity under Rear Admirals David Dixon Porter and Samuel Phillips Lee.

Black Hawk participated in most of the major Western Rivers operations during the remainder of the Civil War, including the long campaign against Vicksburg in December 1862 to July 1863, the capture of Fort Hindman in January 1863, the attack on Haines Bluff in April-May 1863 and the Red River campaign in 1864. On 22 April 1865, as the great conflict was coming to an end, Black Hawk accidently burned and sank near Cairo, Illinois. Her wreck was salvaged and sold in 1867.

Good Morning Brother! Thanks for everything that you do to support the Canteen. You and Linda have a really good thing going here and it is the "behind the scenes" work that makes the difference. Like an iceberg, there's a lot that you don't see, BUT YOU KNOW IT"S THERE!!!!

The hard work really pays off. Tell you "boss" that I said you deserve a merit based raise!

Morning tomkow. Sorry I missed the back to school event at Camp-Run-A-Muck. I took off on Friday to take my mother out for her birthday (which was this weekend). I never got a chance to get to the Canteen. I even had my report on my summer vacation all ready. Here's alittle sample.....

My summer vacation, by Cindy Lu Loo. This summer my family went on vacation to the beach. I had so much fun.

My mom wants me to be a nurse when I grow up so she made me read all these books during summer vacation...

I even got to catch a few bugs while on vacation....

But, I am glad to be back at school so that I can learn the three R's. Thank you very much.
