Controversial Author to Sue Streaming Faith for Dropping Show [Long, Osteen, Dollar, Jakes]
The Christian Post ^ | Aug. 28 2007 | Audrey Barrick

Posted on 08/30/2007 2:57:49 PM PDT by Alex Murphy

Internet talk show host Reuben Armstrong announced he will file a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a faith-based broadcast portal for dropping his show over a controversial book he authored.

StreamingFaith.com, used by churches to broadcast their programs online, removed Armstrong's show earlier this month from the website because the talk show host "slandered a few of our beloved partners," Armstrong quoted Streaming Faith managers as saying.

Armstrong's self-published Snakes in the Pulpit blasts four prominent megachurch pastors who preach what critics call the "prosperity gospel," alleging that they are "false prophets."

"These four pastors – Bishop T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Eddie Long and Creflo Dollar –are twisting scriptures and taking them out of context for fame and fortune and they will be exposed," he said in a statement.

Criticism against the preachers over their prosperity messages is nothing new. Long, who recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of his Atlanta church, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was unfazed by critics as he pointed to the many charity works and large amounts of monetary funds his church has provided.

"I don't entertain those [criticisms]," he said. "Our record speaks for itself."

Meanwhile, the Texas-based talk show host argued a breach of contract, saying, "Streaming Faith had no reasons to dump my show because of a book that exposes these so-called men of God. The contract clearly states that either party must give a 90-day written cancellation notice, and Streaming Faith failed to abide by their own contact."

He further argued that it is also a case of racial discrimination.

Armstrong has delayed the release of his controversial book from Aug. 29 to Sept. 18 due to the conflict with Streaming Faith.

Armstrong need not worry. His honest teaching will payoff.

I’ve seen/heard these Prosperity Preachers. They

may believe in what they are doing, and they may generate

lotta casho for charity. But their preaching is not

CHrist-centered it is numbers centered.

He should drop the lawsuit though. Just get paid for the contract and be on his way.

I guess it doesn’t matter to me whether he chooses to pursue this. I’ve had enough of this nonsense. Time for people to start paying attention. It goes on in little ways, this tolerance of false teaching in the church and complete intolerance for those who would question it. Technically it should be provable that those who oust members are in violation of their ‘membership contract.’ (to use the business jargon they’re all so fond of lately) and could very well lose a case if these sheep weren’t so easily convinced to leave peacefully.

I have to say, in all my years of attending Bishop Jakes’ church, I have NEVER heard him speak of prosering in God through any kind of gil-gotten, unbiblical manner. Bishop Jakes preaches about being healed in every area, in your mind, body, soul, and yes, living a proserous life, financially, Bishop Jakes DOES NOT preach give and God will make you rich, he preaches give and God will provide!!!! While Mr. Armstrong is writing about the so-called prosperity gospel Bishop Jakes preaches (I’m defending him b/c I belong to his church, I beleive the other men are true as well, but at this time, I must come in defense of my pastor) did he write about the over one million dollars Bishop Jakes raised for hurricane Katrina victims(not to mention the millions raised by The Potter’s House, that million came from his own efforts, from other pastor friends) the hundreds that The Potter’s House placed into homes after the storm. The over 100k given to the UNICEF after the Tsunami in 2004. What about the wells dug in Africa so that the people living in the most remote parts of the continent would have fresh water to drink. How about the hundreds of homeless that come to our church and receive showers, haircuts, food and fresh clothes on a weekly basis. No...you dont hear that, what about even the many, many outreach programs The Potter’s House offers, including programs for people infected and effected by the HIV/ Aids epidemic, the ministry devoted to women who were former prostitiudes and now reformed. The program for current jail inmates, and one for former offenders to become reestablished back into society. What about the hundreds of fresh hospital beds and linens, along with food sent to South American countries? Bishop Jakes is a man of true honor and compassion, I would not have been at The Potter’s House for nine years if there were not the case. God Bless!

Jakes is a oneness Pentecostal who denies the Trinity. Tony Evans has rebuked Jakes privately for his modalism AND his prosperity gospel (which he does write about and preach). You can read more about this man you support here - http://www.apprising.org/archives/td_jakes/index.html

Let Truth rule your mind, not allegiance to any man.

Next, if you point out their Biblical teaching error, they will have your IP address blocked. LOL!

I can sense your anger in your response. I’m sure it is only natural to feel this way, when one attacks someone who you hold in high esteem.
But I once was easily swayed and niave to actually what the bible does teach. Until God, opened my eyes to his truth, I took everything my pastor taught as gospel. Now I look into God’s word to measure what was taught and either confirm the teaching to discern the truth. Keep in mind, the bible is to be read, studied and thought of as a whole. Do not pick and choose verses, out of context. I do know (for fact) that Bishop Jakes denies the trinity and my friend, that is false teaching. That is not what Jesus taught, nor what scriptures reflect. Find out for yourself.
If you don’t know who the Holy Spirit truly is, what the bible says about him, then you may not have the power to discern truth from lies, good from evil.

It is not enough to believe in God,even Satan and his angels believe in God and they SHUTTER. Make him LORD and SAVIOR of your life and then (only then) does the HOLY Spirit guide you and give you discernment. Please be careful your eternal salvation should be IN Jesus, not Bishop Jakes.
When Joel Osteen denied that Jesus Christ was the ONLY way to heaven, I knew immediately he was a false teacher. He spoke these words on the Larry King Show you can find out for yourself. Jesus himself, with his own mouth, said HE WAS THE ONLY WAY, not ONE of the ways. He rebuked those in the book of Matthew who were trying to point out all the “things” they did in his name. He replied “get away from me, I do not KNOW you”. Study God’s word and discern for yourself. May God richly bless you and fill you with his Spirit.

Nope! Just a sinner who the true God has saved. Nothing special about me....sorry to disappoint.

Seek the truth.

As am I!

Your response makes me think that perhaps you are unaware that a Berean is someone who searches the scripture to see what is true. It sounds to me like this is what you do.

Than I guess I am a Berean. I’m sorry I had never knew the definition of that. I looked it up myself and you are correct in your definition and I would agree that that is what I like to do. Thanks for teaching me something new!
