Up until the time of Luther the only thing was “The Real Presence.”

Yeah. In the Roman Catholic Church. But it wasn’t the only church organization. And the teaching also had a starting point. Before that starting point it wasn’t the teaching. It certainly is not taught in the bible.
Christ gave us a very simple activity to perform as a symbol to remind us of the foundation upon which Christianity rests. And we can do it as often as we like. My wife and I do it at home after meals sometimes.
A lot of people in this world are missled by teachers that do not necessarily teach the truth. This is true in all church organizations as well as lay teaches (e.g. C. S. Lewis). I compare the teaching to everyone to what is said in the Word of God. If it jibes, great. If not, I throw it out. I’ve weeded out things people “told me” after actually studying the subject in the bible. One of those would be the false teaching of the lost eternally and consciously enduring suffering. The bible is so clear on the subject that I’m amazed anyone ever tried to seriously teach it.
And how about that Sunday worship thing? I’m all for it, but too many people see it as the Christian Sabbath. It ain’t. And tithing is an old testament thing. Freely giving is the Christian thing.
I could go on and on...
