BRINGING EX-CATHOLICS BACK TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH A PERSONAL STORY
CATHOLIC CLASSICS UNLIMITED BRINGING EX-CATHOLICS BACK TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ^

Posted on 10/20/2015 12:34:51 AM PDT by OrthodoxIndianCatholic

Introduction :

It is my objective and endeavour to bring Ex-Catholics back to the Catholic Church in 2015 as well as in 2016. I intend to achieve this through "Catholic Classics".

What I mean is this -- I want Catholics who have left the Catholic Church to read awesome and amazing "Catholic Books" posted on my Catholic Blog.

Many Catholics in India specially in "Metro Cities" have left the Catholic Church and have joined "Non - Denominational Churches".

Most of them are unaware of "Catholic Classics" which encompass and explain the beautiful Catholic Faith.

In Cities like Mumbai in Maharashtra, Panjim and Margao in Goa, Bangalore in Karnataka, and Chennai in Tamil Nadu Catholics have left the Church for a variety of reasons; mostly for monetary reasons but some have also left because of animosity with Priests, or Nuns, or Bishops.

Let me tell you my personal story with regard to "Catholic Classics" and how they changed my life forever.

In Mid- 2012, 3 years back, I was quite angry with Catholic Priests because of negative experiences I had with them while growing up in Mumbai.

In the latter half of 2012, while surfing the "Net" for Catholic Websites I came across a beautiful, outstanding, and extra-ordinary Catholic Website called "E-Catholic 2000"-- "Catholics for the Third Millenium".

Once, I entered this amazing website I happened to stumble across four Catholic Classics--

1) Calvary and the Mass.

2) True Devotion to Mary.

3) Secret of the Rosary.

4) Secret of Mary.

After reading these 4 Catholic Classics over a number of months - I lost all animosity I may have had against Catholic Priests in Mumbai or anywhere else.

I promise you that when you read these 4 books, you will be changed forever and will fall in love with the Catholic - Christian Faith instantly as I did.

These are 4 Books, that positively changes lives and souls.

Read them and you will never be sorry that you visited my "Catholic Blog" accidentally or purposely.

These "Catholic Classics" proudly promote Jesus Christ as the "Centre of our Faith".

The Catholic Church is more than 2000 years old. Let us never forget that.

These Catholic Classics present to us the vibrant Catholic Faith as it has been through the centuries.

Conclusion :

No one will ever regret reading "Catholic Books" @ my blog. These Catholic Books help to build one up in the faith and help to strengthen one about the truths of the Catholic Faith.

I strongly recommend 4 Catholic Classics to Catholics who have left the Church and who might visit my Catholic Blog in the future.

1) Calvary and the Mass

2) True Devotion to Mary

3) Secret of the Rosary

4) Secret of Mary

Happy and Holy Reading.

In other words, as usual, you were wrong.

Please note I stated that this was mostly untrue. "It was she who has suckled Him" is the only thing that is correct. So, no, I'm not wrong.

As far as "nourished Him", one cannot be nourished unless it is the father that provides. Consequently we ask the Father to "give us this day our daily bread". We don't ask our mother. And, as you point out, Joseph made a living as a carpenter and provided for his family. It was Joseph to whom the angel appeared telling him to flee with his family. It was Joseph who they reference when people said, "Is this not the carpenter's son?" (Matt 13:55) along with His family (Joseph, Mary, and (yes) brothers and sisters).

As far as Luke 2:35, of course it applies to Mary since Joseph would be dead by the time the prophesy was fulfilled.

As far as Mary giving up anything to God's will, this is Pelagism. We don't "give up" anything to God. God is the giver of all things that we have. We only give back a portion of what God has given us, and then it's because God has laid it on our hearts to give. One cannot even repent unless it is given by God. (2 Titus 2:25)

And, no, Mary did not control God's will. We can either submit to God's will or we rebel against it. It was predestined from before the foundations of the world that Christ should die for us. Mary submitted to God's will just as our Lord Jesus submitted to God's will. One can certainly try to rebel against God's will but as Moses, Paul and a number of other people have found out, it doesn't work. God will bend our wills to carry out His will. God didn't ask Mary. He told her what would happen. Mary submitted to God's will.

While I didn't do an in depth reading of the proposed books I skimmed through them at the post. I saw only little scriptural reference and most of it in adoration of Mary. But I'm sure the pictures are pretty.

Amen! When I left Catholicism for the genuine Gospel of salvation by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ, it was when I became a real Christian. There is nothing in Catholicism that I need or want.

Same here.

She did in that she willingly gave Him up for the will of God.

She had a choice????

She knew what was going to happen to Christ.

Mary knew the Scriptures as she had read and learned them.

Catholics would do well to emulate Mary in this capacity.

Catholics don’t worship Mary. We ask her to pray for us. Did you ever ask your own mother to pray for you?

Actually no, but one thing no one in Scripture but idolaters would do is:

Pray to created beings in Heaven, presuming (including their mother) could constantly hear what they thought and or said on earth.

Kneel before statues of them in great adulation and supplication.

Make offerings to them or just the Queen of Heaven.

Ascribe other attributes and feats which only God is shown having and doing.

Such in its totality by another name would be blasphemy and or idolatry in Scripture, but which RCs think their church is above.

But I admit: A lot of people WILL SEE about that - and THEY will be shocked ("shocked", I say!)

Shocked is only an English word we use. The word is only a drop in the ocean compared to the reality of what "shocked" really means. The reality goes infinitely further than the word itself.

” So, no, I’m not wrong.”

Yes, yes you were wrong. Here’s what you wrote:

“You apparently did not read the books listed in the article.”

I did read them. You were wrong.

And here’s EXACTLY how I discussed that fact:

[I re-posted your quote]: “You apparently did not read the books listed in the article.”

[I then plainly stated that I read all four of the books years ago]: I read at three of the four - including the one you mentioned in 1995. I read the Fulton Sheen book (Calvary and the Mass) between 2001 and 2009. The copy I had was a rare edition with dozens of black and white photographs of the Mass. I found it especially interested because I attend the Latin Mass so it seemed particularly appropriate.

[I then pointed out you were wrong in regard to your claim I did not read the books in question]: In other words, as usual, you were wrong.

You were wrong. And you were wrong to suggest in this latest post that I was talking about something else: “Please note I stated that this was mostly untrue. “It was she who has suckled Him” is the only thing that is correct. So, no, I’m not wrong.”

So you’ve wrong twice - OBJECTIVELY WRONG - so far. This isn’t even a matter of interpretation. You said I apparently didn’t read four books which I did in fact read. Then you suggested I was talking about something I wasn’t when I said you were wrong.

She did in that she willingly gave Him up for the will of God. It pays to actually read the books rather than just blindly attack them. I’ve read them all. Have you?

Jesus didn't belong to Mary in the first place that He was hers to give to God.

That is enough nonsense that convinces me I don't need to or WANT to read any of that claptrap about Mary.

Scripture tells us all we need to know about Jesus for our salvation, to make us wise unto salvation, complete, mature, and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

“Jesus didn’t belong to Mary in the first place that He was hers to give to God.”

Just like your kids don’t belong to you.

“That is enough nonsense that convinces me I don’t need to or WANT to read any of that claptrap about Mary.”

That’s how many of us feel about your posts. Out of charity we still read many of them.

“Scripture tells us all we need to know about Jesus for our salvation, to make us wise unto salvation, complete, mature, and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

But it doesn’t provide you with an inspired table of contents. When Jesus commissioned the Apostles to go to the ends of the earth, none of them had a New Testament. Men were saved anyway.

To: All

Dear Friends,

Greetings again.

As, I had mentioned in my article that E-Catholic 2000 is my favourite catholic website. I forgot to mention that it is possibly the best Catholic Website in the world after all it kept me strong in the Catholic Faith.

For all those, who believe in the Bible and nothing else. I have good news for you.

On E-Catholic 2000, there is a Library called “Catholic Christian Classics”. It is an awesome and amazing library in more ways than one.

In this Library, there are numerous “Bible Commentaries” on all the Books of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Besides, this there are Bible Commentaries on the Book of Psalms and on every Letter written by Saint Paul.

There are also Bible Commentaries on Specific Gospels. This amply proves that the Catholic Church is a “Bible Centred” Church.

Case Closed.

I don’t think in this world you will ever get a website like e-catholic 2000 that is all comprehensive from every point of view.

Note : Isn’t it sad that some of my posts on Catholicism on FR end up in a slug fest or a war between Catholics and Protestants.

Same old stuff, different day. Roman Catholicism is an old large cult of personalities, not Christ. God is a Spirit, and we worship Him in Truth...

All the commentary is needless, when one has the Holy Spirit indwelling. Us believers have full confidence in the efficacy of Christ's redemptive work, that we can rest in that truth without bowing down to plastic saints and with our giving unworthy adulation and worship to some false image of the mother of our Lord.

It is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. It is the same Spirit that overcame the World and gave promise to those of us sinners, unworthy, but justified by His Blood.

We Christians have no need for rituals and incense. Wh don't leave Christ on a cross, but always show the victory of that empty one. It is enough to have the knowledge and wisdom that only God can give to us through that same Spirit.

Friend, no matter how much you believe a lie, it is still a lie. The Roman Catholic religion is an empty shell. It possess untold riches and governs mightily with an iron hand, threatening with being cut off. But, it also offers second chances, as long as you have friends and family buying candles and play with beads.

there are no second chances. We have only one life. We have only one Christ, and His Holy Spirit calls to ours to join the family. He wants to give peace to our souls, and love to our hearts. This, in spite of our dirty lives and all those things done and undone. We have Grace.

Grace is simple, It is free. It doesn't offer a sip of wine or nibble of bread to work in our lives. It comes rushing in like a mighty wind, and begins to make changes, as we allow Him.

There are no constant confessions. We are told to pray without ceasing. That means that every word we utter should bring praise to Him.

Do we live up to that standard. Of course not. But, like Paul, we can rejoice because He offers a lifetime of hope. To be a member of an organization offers comfort. Especially when we are indoctrinated to believe that some mens "traditions" can surpass the Truth of Scripture.

Roman Catholics claim to be a lot of things. But, it is only in being a Christian that there is any hope. I haven't met many Roman Catholics who can accept the Word of God over some fancily dressed guy telling them to give it all to Rome. That is a shame. It does't bode well, in the end. And, the end is coming!!!

Forget the commentaries from your cult. Scripture, when illuminated by the Holy Spirit offers the only chance of eternal life. It is only found in simple faith in Jesus work. It is finished and we are free from sin and death. If we only believe! It is through Him alone that we can overcome.

Romans 7: 14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. ...

Romans 8: 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Scripture as the bedrock of your assertions.

Well, as the only wholly God-inspired tangible body of express revelation then it is certainly fitting.

the implications and conclusions cannot be disputed.

By the grace of God. But it should be added that i think for the most part Mariolatry is done in ignorance and with sincere motive. though that does not make it right.

And how often does something created become the chief object of our heart affections, and or ultimate object of obedience and service, and or real source of security at any given time? What excites us more, looking forward to watching the football game or going to church or a Bible study? What drives/prioritizes our actions the most, hunger for food or worship. prayer and service to God? What are we most sensitive to, what alarms/upsets us the most, loss of pleasures, or possessions or praise/prestige, or spiritual declension in ourselves or others and loss of God's blessing/approval? "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me" is a command i most often break, and idolatry is the mother of most sins, outside of ignorance.

No, my kids don’t belong to me. They belong to God who gave them to me. I was given the privilege of being entrusted to be their mother and raise them.

Mary did not produce Jesus of her own accord or decision. He came to earth of His own decision and of his own accord. Nobody has control over Jesus.

Virtually all of Rome’s teachings about Mary have ZERO Scriptural substantiation. They are the vain imaginings of men.

Scripture was recognized as such long before the RCC came along and gave its stamp of approval to it, as if the Word of God needed the validation of men. It’s the height of arrogance for the Catholic church to take credit for the work of God. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

Taking credit and glory due to God alone isn’t going to end any better for Catholics than it did for Herod in Acts 12.
