Clear air, a warm campfire and extremely low light pollution makes for a wondrous experience for city folks who have been blindered by technology.

We once camped at the bottom of Mariscal Canyon on the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park. At that point, the canyon is 1400 ft deep, with sheer cliffs on either side of the river.

The result is a restricted "slot" view of the heavens, with the stars being especially bright due to the high clear air and the absence of light pollution. Under these conditions, the "movement" of the stars is quite apparent.

Peregrine falcons also nest in the canyon walls at this point. To hear their eerie "skree" echo in the canyon is a memorable experience.

Our Lord does not need our lies, said St. Augustine.

Interesting.

... one has to believe already that the gospels describe accurately what the Magi observed.

Good point!

up on the Canadian border around Wisconsin is good; too.

Loons are good, too.

The weather up there can be problematic, though -- even in mid-summer.

I recall driving into Marquette, MI on July 4, 1961...in the midst of a sleet storm.

The thing that I find most fascinating about this presentation is the light it sheds (pun intended) on reconciling the different infancy narratives of Matthew and Luke. Thank you for posting this.

Quote; herod nor jerusalem noticed the star. Only the wise men. Those who look for God will find Him.

Creation witnesses against the world every day,but especialky at His appointed times-

Today, ‘judaism’ observes His Feast of Passover and Unleavened Bread (in the Father’s 1st month) when the sun is traveling through the ‘2 fish’ constellation.

Today, ‘judaism’ observes His Day of Atonement and His Feast of Tabernacles (in the FaTher’s 7th month) when the sun is traveling through the ‘woman’ constellation.

Means nothing to them. But to believers in the Son,

new testament- Fishers of men And His Bride makes perfect sense
But that doesn’t mean as much until one sees what are happening to those ‘signs’(they are moving)
And a couple thousand years go, those ‘signs’ weren’t the ‘signs’ in the sky at His Feasts.

At Passover, it used to be (a couple thousand years ago) the ‘Ram’(adult Lamb) and at Atonement, it used to be the ‘scale’ (a scale or a balance)

Which means nothing to nonbelievers. But to believers in the Father,

Old Testament- Passover Lamb and the leveling of the scales and Atonement with God.

All set at His Feasts. In His Sky. And there is another movement coming where His spring Feasts will have the ‘water bearer’ and His Fall Feasts, the Lion!

All up there. We can know where we’ve been (as a people), where we’re at, and what comes next. Before it was written on parchment. His Heavens truly do declare His Glory!

And when one understands some of this, one can know a great mystery of when the Son was born a couple thousand years ago. (Hint is in Revelation 12:1 that describes the sign ‘in the heavens’ of the ‘woman’ (now usually His 7th month- but was His 6th month 2000 years ago) clothed with the Sun and the moon under her feet’..

That happened ‘literally’ on September 26 in 2014 (first day of His 7th month- the true day of Trumpets-, a new moon day)

That happened ‘literally’ on October 14 in 2015(first day of His 8th month- a new moon day-an extra month was added naturally in the Father’s calendar in 2015 to catch up)

Wise men may not be any smarter. They just know where (His Word and His Creation) and when (His appointed times in His Word) to look..

And billions have smartphones that do nothing but dumb them down..
Intentional. They could be used to watch His Creation move and find those talked about in His Word.
The enemy doesn’t want people to know Truth. The enemy is about stealing worship. Some at first blush would say this sounds always horoscopish or astrological. When that is exactly what the enemy has done. Used His signs and polluted them.

And one, with study, would be wise not to take Judaism or Christianity (or Islam) as any authority either on what is holy and what is common.
Judaism thinks today is Holy. The Sabbath. They are off by a day in this 10th month of the Father’s calendar. And they were a day off in the 9th month of the Father’s calendar.

And Muslims observed it in His 9th month if they assembled on their Fridays.and Christians assembling on Sunday for the next 3 weeks will be assembling on His Sabbath.
Ask an SDA how important His Sabbath is and they will say it is crucial.
Ask the same SDA why they use the Pope Gregory calendar instead of the Father’s calendar in His Word and His Creation to remember His Sabbath, and they won’t know there is any other calendar other than the popes calendar.
(And they call the Pope ‘antichrist’. And they really follow Judaism, and Scripture already defines those who reject the Son as antichrist..

Quite a lot of confusion out there! And people can see by simple observation of His Creation how the whole world is deceived.

People would be shocked how blind the ‘herod’s of the world and Jerusalem is today.
But Christianity is partly to blame.
Because Christianity doesn’t understand His sun,Moon, stars and the signs He Created them to be(like Genesis 1:14 says) either.
They witness to them too. Because the Father’s appointed Days are the Son’s appointed Days

And it would bring deeper, more awesome meaning to a believer that The Word became flesh..

Lots of Truth is lost in the confusion called religion..

And anyone can know Truth. It won’t look like what you always knew, but that is what new eyes will mean.

How'd they KNOW this stuff?

Romans tells us that all creation is evidence of God. The wise men noticed the signs in creation. What is interesting is few others observed the sign.

One could also say that perhaps God revealed the star to the wise men and no one else. It was, after all, the gifts of the wise men that help Joseph to finance the flight to Egypt some believe.

Remember; it wasn’t Protestants that made a lot of this stuff up!

Which Protestants are you speaking about? There are THOUSANDS of denominations.

People OFTEN question and jeer at
--what they don't understand,
--what frightens them,
--what is new and different
--what they've been told to like, love, hate, ridicule, etc.

Were you taught to ridicule Catholics? I doubt it.

I didn't even ridicule all those VERY strange Hindu gods when we visited India. Amazing place. It made me appreciate my own faith so much more.

Why ridicule others' faith and faith practices?
Isn't it God's place to be Judge?

Lol.

You got that from Catholic LEGEND. Their names were not known. It isn't even FACT that there were three.
The Catholic Church decided that THREE was appropriate because there were three gifts.

Also, descriptions of their race were unknown as well. All Catholic legend. Nice that you embrace it, though, very sweet.

Legends aren't dogma, however. But you know that.

Wuest’s literal translation of the New Testament renders the term commonly rendered as “inn,” as “caravansary.”

It was the rough equivalent of today’s motel. The horsepower being actual horses (and camels etc.) there was provision for them. Looks like there was no more human quarters but they were told fine, they could stay in the animal quarters.

So it would be KIND of a stable. By the time the Magi appeared they had moved on to a house of some kind.

Remember; it wasn't Protestants that made a lot of this stuff up!

If the Romanists didn't have all of these myths and legends, they would have to rely on Scripture for guidance and revelation! But, it seems it is easier for them to follow after some visions, myths, and fables. rather than the Spirit! But, thank God for His Holy Spirit.

John 14: 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever- 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. 1

It is interesting to notice how spirituality plays out around the world. The gift of God makes a lot more sense when viewed in that light — we can get fat, dumb, and happy in our churches not realizing what a vast picture there really is. Paul made use of pagan spiritual ideas arguing for Jesus at Mars Hill.

I currently work in an office with a large group of H1Bs from India. They are about half Hindu, half Christian. They respect one another in this context. Hindu faith tends to go eclectic, and one route to Christ for them is to adopt Jesus as a god then dramatically find out He is far more than they had bargained for.

One thing I have personally observed is that if a faith placed directly in Jesus Christ for salvation is actually there (and it takes only a moment to enter into it... it does not need men’s doctrines to keep it cemented), it will endure any amount of other sins, because those have now been rendered passing. Indeed, if we look at the more devout Catholics, we will see a concentration towards such direct faith taking place. Hardly anyone of any denomination disputes the Christianity of someone like Mother Teresa, it becoming very obvious at that level.

I have learned to be very respectful towards what Jesus Christ keeps together in spite of its errors and sins, because I might be looking at my own church congregation through those eyes some day.

I worked with Muslim Pakistanis and Catholics from India. We all HAD to get along, cooperate and get the work done.
There was NO problem whatsoever regarding our faiths. It was all good and we proved that by ACTING out our own faiths.

After visiting India my husband was POSITIVE that somewhere in India SOME Hindu was worshipping God as a '56 Chevy. God COULD be anything, human, animal, mythical creature or any mixture thereof.
WHAT an experience that was.

Isn't it God's place to be Judge?

Sigh............

Jesus has commanded us to judge!

"Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?... And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?... Do you not know that we shall judge angels?... How much more, things that pertain to this life?.. If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge ? (1 Corinthians 6:1-5).

Many commands of God require the exercise of righteous judgment.

"But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us" (2 Thessalonians 3:6).

"And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother" (2 Thessalonians 3:14,15).

"Teach and exhort these things. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wrangling of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself" (2 Timothy 6:2b-5).

"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple" (Romans 16:17,18).

All these commands require the careful exercise of righteousness judgment. Do not be deceived by smooth words and flattering speech. Beware of wolves who come to you with a sheep's skin.

We must be careful not to make unqualified judgments. But we must judge appropriately when commanded to do so.

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."  (John 7:24).
