Most muslims have an ancestor who converted to islam at the point of a sword.
More muslims should do this.

I think same as you do.
Reality is that muslims are not taught or told how the majority of their ancestors, one way or another, were forced to convert to Islam.
Instead history has been rewritten in a variety of ways, often berating other religions by misleading, and magnifying the shortcomings, while portraying Islam in a very positive light, conveniently dismissing historical facts, and deliberately neglecting to put forward a balanced view. Examples:
1. Their ancestors were pagans, sinners and brutal.
2. Islam is the ‘perfect’ and ‘holy’ religion by comparison, and their ancestors chose to convert (the latter maybe true for a minority, but not majority - historically speaking).
3. Islam is a tolerant religion & religion of peace, often referring to the “Islamic civilisation” as the golden age in the M.E. - of course, all those contributing to the so-called “Islamic civilisation” were converts - their contributions were despite Islam, not because of it.
We actually have groups like IS now to thank for showing how Islam originally spread in the M.E. and North Africa.
