The first openly lesbian bishop in the United Methodist Church can stay on the job for now, but she is subject to a disciplinary review that could lead to her removal, the top church court ruled Friday.
Bishop Karen Oliveto's civil marriage to another woman violates church law that bars clergy who are "self-avowed practicing homosexuals," the Judicial Council said. However, a decision over whether she can remain in the position must come from a separate disciplinary process, the court ruled.

Does the UMC actually have any straight female clergy?
That’s a great question. Also, are there any female conservative clergy in the UMC?
Are there any Christian female clergy anywhere that are conservative?

Sodom and Gomorrah
I’m stumped and stunned, that the issue of homosexuality, has the potential to tear denominations apart like this.
But we may well see schisms in churches over this very issue.
Some churches and denominations will hold to traditional values, and reject open homosexuality and homosexual marriage.
Others, will bend over backwards to prove they are liberal, and openly accept homosexuality. Some may even perform homosexual marriages to prove how liberal they are.
Are there any groups that now accept ‘gay marriage’ that didn’t first accept female clergy?
Also, why didn’t a married clergy stop gays from being openly accepted in these groups?

My minister is a female married twice. Both times to men. She is married to a guy I like quite a lot. She is a liberal, however. I think she is fine and has a lot to say that I learn from. I am ready though, for our congregation to hire a man with fire in his belly.
I’ve wonder that about them and our whipping boy the Episcopagans.
Should add, that I attend a traditional United Methodist Church.
I know two female UMC pastors who are very conservative religiously and politically. They are the two most recent pastors at my father’s church. The fact they are they that conservative as Methodists surprised me as much as their being conservative as female clergy.
All cultures and faiths consider homosexuality/bisexuality to be wrong-sinful. Any church which DOES accept homosexuality/bisexuality deserves schism and ruin as anything but heterosexuality and sex WITHIN marriage is contrary to God's law.
The only opinion that counts is GOD'S OPINION. Why wait until judgment to finally GET IT?
Wild. Are they married or what?

The Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.
I thought the LCMS didn’t have any female clergy?

I mis-read your past to include all clergy.
Yes. One is married to another UMC pastor, and the other to a nondenominational evangelical pastor.
I have never been very impressed with a lot of the female clergy I have encountered, but I like these two. They have solid spiritual and theological foundations. They work hard, and do good a good job.
Both have assured the congregation that they will not preside at same-sex weddings.
Too late.
And they really think they can let a problem like this fester for two years? The way the LBGT Nazi wing of the Democrat Party is attacking normal they wont have a church by 2019.
Like I said, pretty wild indeed. You certainly wouldn’t know such things existed per normal media. I wonder if they get even more flak from libs than a conservative male pastor would, or if it gives them some protection being female.

They are in southern Illinois, so that makes some difference. I have been away from the UMC for a long time, but from past experience I recall a significant presence of conservatism and traditional Methodism in the south and parts of the Midwest. I would imagine that pastors such as these two ladies do not exist at all in a place such as Chicago.
The UMC has torn lots of pages out of their Bibles, they just keep proving I did the right thing when I became a recovering Methodist. If I am ever in a Church and a woman goes to the pulpit do not get between me and the EXIT.
