What is moral justification for allowing someone to live after they have deprived an innocent person of the same right. The moral position is to deprive the murderer of his life
The death penalty is the fundamental way we prove society’s commitment to upholding the value of a human life. A murderer, by definition, has killed the only one who had the right to forgive their crime. For we who remain, all that is available in response is to require a life be forfeit for one that is wantonly taken! Forgiving the murder and allowing the murderer to live, albeit in prison, is tantamount to announcing his life is worth more than the one he took!
