Pope Bungles Theodicy on Leftist Talk Show

Francis plays to celebrity who makes millions on anti-Catholic network

VATICAN CITY (ChurchMilitant.com) - In an interview on Italy's most left-wing talk show and predictably loquacious on his pet themes of Mother Earth, migrants, clericalism and pacifism, Pope Francis was tongue-tied on the theological question of why innocent children suffer.

During his 50-minute exchange with celebrity talk show host Fabio Fazio on Italian state television Rai 3, the pope shrugged his shoulders when asked to explain the tragic suffering of innocent children.

"Of course, questions remain open: Why do children suffer? I find no explanation for this," Francis admitted. "I have faith, I try to love God who is my Father, but I ask myself: 'But why do children suffer?' And there is no answer."

The "only one way" response to avoid the "temptation" of such a question is to suffer with suffering children, Francis said. "In this 'a great teacher' was Dostoevsky," he added.

When responding to the problem of theodicy — the defense of God in the face of evil — the pontiff failed to mention sin, the fall of humanity and the redemption won by Christ.

Instead, Francis trotted out a semi-pelagian response to the question of evil, claiming "so many evils come precisely because man has lost the ability to follow the rules, has changed nature, has changed many things — and because of his own human frailties."

Francis alluded to the Devil as "another who sowed evil in the world out of envy," but did not attribute suffering to Satan. Rather, "one does not speak" with evil as "dialogue with evil is dangerous," he warned.

"So many people go, try to dialogue with evil. I too have found myself in this situation many times, but I wonder why — a dialogue with evil, that.......

Isn’t one of the job requirements for Pope a basic understanding RC theology?

Can he be removed for cause?

Technically, there are only two “qualifications.” Be a baptized Catholic, and be a male.

We have usually tried to pick theologically-literate folks, but that isn’t an absolute requirement. Maybe next time out.

He can’t answer the question because he does not believe we are sinners in a fallen Creation. The “new improved” catholic church according to bergoglio does not believe in sin, only disobedience to the laws our rulers place upon us.

Why is there suffering! I look at it like this world was a beautifully built housing area and we were handed the keys and told to follow the rules that would have kept it a clean, secure, and prosperous place for everyone to live. But, just as in real life public housing we just tore everything up and let it go the Hell (literally). Then we wonder why we have to live in the mess we created without even realizing we are the one’s who screwed up paradise.

Why do children suffer?
    1. Almost 20% are aborted.
    2. Since all we do affects others to some degree and in some way, parents experience consequences of sinful choices by themselves or others, even from before them, and thus children also suffer.
    3. God in His omniscience knows what all the effects will be - for this life and eternity - of even the time we woke up today, and thus allows what He will knowing what is right in the grand scheme of everything, including the suffering of children and others. Which in this life can be to enlarge the hearts of others to show love they otherwise would never know they had, and above all to bring souls to seek and find Christ for salvation and help and purpose in this life.
    4. God recalls His loan, and takes children that He gave to Heaven, thus delivering them, though first they may experience suffering.

As for why God allows Evil at all, see Theodicy

Oh sure. We all know why. Because th Government is involved enough in their lives, and working people are not paying their fair share to the people who don’t or who just arrived wearing raybans, new clothes, and 5g cellphone plans.
