EDINA, Minnesota (LifeSiteNews) — A Lutheran female “minister” has gone viral for reciting a heretical “Sparkle Creed” as part of a recent church service.
The Edina Community Lutheran Church (ECLC) “minister,” Anna Helgen, led the congregation in the “creed”:
I believe in the non-binary God whose pronouns are plural. I believe in Jesus Christ, their child who wore a fabulous tunic and had two dads and saw everyone as a sibling-child of God.
I believe in the rainbow spirit who shatters our image of one white light and refracts it into a rainbow of gorgeous diversity. I believe in the church of everyday saints as numerous, creative, and resilient as patches on the AIDS quilt, whose feet are grounded in mud and whose eyes gaze at the stars in wonder. I believe in the calling to each of us that love is love is love is love, so beloved let us love. I believe glorious God help my unbelief.
The “minister” then prayed for “honeybee populations,” “climate justice advocacy efforts,” and successful LGBT “pride” events at the June 25 church service.
About 10 minutes later, another “pastor” named Jeff Sartain then offered another prayer about how Jesus Christ lives “among us,” in the “lives of black trans women” and “babies born into the joyful care of lesbian women.”
Sartain, donning a rainbow-colored stole, said Christ “wanders school halls as trans children and navigate the streets as queer couples walking hand in hand.”
“You come to us as [LGBTQIA+] youth with no home. You are embodied by Two-Spirit people still fighting against the impacts of colonization, erasure and stolen land,” Sartain continued.
The clip, first posted by a Twitter account called “Woke Preacher clips,” drew numerous critical responses.
“This makes me think some progressive pastors not only don’t know theology but they don’t know basics of the Bible like we were taught as children,” one person commented.
“It’s the work of the devil. Plain and simple,” another person commented.
The ECLC is a liberal church that promotes liberalism above Christianity.
It calls itself “a progressive Lutheran congregation that has been striving for over 70 years to live out Jesus’ radical message of love and to make a difference in our world. We welcome all people without exception, and reach out to our community with serving hands and voices raised for justice,” according to its website.
The church was featured in the local Star Tribune in September 2022 for its support for abortion.
It is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCA) in America whose “bishop” is participating in the Synod Assembly with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Hate to say it but the congregation may enthusiastically endorse this drivel. Lots of woke pewsitters these days, if you look at the right church.
I look forward to Martin Luther dealing with these people.
It contains three heresies
1) Jesus is Lord, Jesus is our one and only Savior. This creed reduces Jesus to a dude who wore a cool tunic that had two dads.
2) The statement also reduces God the father who is Holy to a mere Dad.
3) Everyone is not a child of God. Only those who become adopted by believing that Jesus is their lord and savior.
Does this sound like Jesus saw everyone as a sibling-child of God?

I can only hope these folks repent before it’s too late, but I’m not exactly holding my breath.

The Church I grew up with, was confirmed in, that both my Sisters were married in... Is part of the ELCA.
I haven’t been back there in a few years... Just looked on their website... Sure enough...

I mean, I get it... “Love the sinner, hate the sin”... but this seems a lot like letting the serpents in with the sheep...

If ELCA tolerates this church, then obviously ELCA is heretical.
Welcoming is one thing. Clearly defining sin and encouraging people to repent is yet another.
The Lutherans went over to the dark side in WW2, electing NAZI bishops across the board.
They don’t actually stand for anything anymore.
Never mind all that bible stuff. Just do what FEELZ good, man.
