United Church of Christ Passes Resolution Claiming Killing Babies in Abortions is Health Care

A Protestant denomination that claims to follow Christ passed a pro-abortion resolution this week that describes aborting unborn babies as “health care” and pro-life laws as “sexual violence.”

The United Church of Christ General Synod overwhelmingly passed the resolution “Proclaiming Abortion as Healthcare” in a 611-24 vote, according to the denomination website.

UCC leaders said they created the resolution in response to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Dobbs v. Jackson, which overturned Roe v. Wade and began allowing laws to protect unborn babies from abortion again. Currently, 15 states are enforcing laws that protect unborn babies from abortion, and more are fighting in court to do the same.

Most Christians believe killing unborn babies in abortions is wrong because every human being is created in the image of God. But a few have strayed from this teaching.

The new UCC resolution describes abortion as “healthcare” and a “right.” It goes on to condemn “all laws banning abortion or restricting access to reproductive health services” – language that suggests the denomination supports abortions for any reason up to birth, including elective late-term abortions on viable babies and sex-selection abortions.

Additionally, the document maligns pro-life laws that protect unborn babies’ lives. It argues that “forced birth is an act of sexual violence and the choice to have and care for children is a sacred decision which should not be forced upon anyone.”

In regard to more tangible actions, the resolution urges all UCC churches to cover travel costs for pastors and other staff to abort their unborn babies in elective abortions.

It also calls on denomination leaders to lobby against pro-life laws and “explore the creation of a bail fund for those UCC members who may be arrested for participation in civil disobedience or other acts of nonviolent Christian witness around reproductive justice.”

The Rev. Dakota Roberts, an Indiana pastor who helped develop the resolution, said UCC churches should become “sanctuaries” for abortion seekers.

“As sanctuary churches house refugees and immigrants from deportation, so now, too, the United Church of Christ encourages churches to love, support and exist as a sanctuary for individuals seeking access to safe abortions,” Roberts said.

Christianity always has taught that every human life is valuable, and killing innocent people is evil. But some churches, including a number of shrinking Protestant denominations like the UCC, have abandoned this teaching in recent years. In January, four UCC pastors even filed a lawsuit against Missouri, challenging its abortion ban on religious freedom grounds.

These radical pro-abortion actions contradict scripture and millennia of Judeo-Christian teachings.

The Bible recognizes unborn babies as valuable human beings in Luke 1:41, Genesis 25:21-22, Psalm 22:10-11 and other passages. Jesus placed great value on children when others in society did not in Matthew 19:14, and Proverbs 6:16-17 states that one of the things God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood. One of the ten commandments prohibits murder.

Science also backs up the belief. Biologically, it is well accepted that a living human being with his/her own unique DNA comes into existence at the moment of conception. Scientists, biology textbooks and other expert sources agree, and it is a reason why many non-religious people also believe abortion is wrong.

Christians also believe that God loves and forgives mothers and fathers who have their unborn babies aborted. When individuals recognize their sin and repent, Christianity teaches that God is “abounding in love” and willing to forgive. Many pro-life ministries offer post-abortion Bible studies and counseling programs for just this purpose.

Violence is not healthcare.

Have you ever noticed that when religious people were against abortion, they were imposing their religion on others? But when religions start to say abortion is good, that’s okay.

Christians also believe that God loves and forgives mothers and fathers who have their unborn babies aborted.

Do Christians believe God forgives them for murder, racism, rape, genocide, etc.?

You ever notice that when churches are for abortion their numbers seem to fall off in great numbers and in a few decades they have to consolidate or shut down all together?

My daughter says she is thinking about finding a church. Today she said she was thinking about United Church of Christ, or Disciples of Christ or church of Christ.
I know little about these denominations. My daughter was raised Catholic but now says she wants no hierarchy between God and the people. Also, she is pro-gay, so would want to be “inclusive” of them. I know there are pro life “progressive “ Christians. I do not know how many there are.
I assume my daughter is on a long path back to real Christian faith. But this first stop on her journey, whatever it might be, has me wondering.
At least she and her husband are doing some Bible reading.

In certain cases I think I could condone abortion up to about the 280th trimester.

UCC is not a church. Despite church in the name. Its always been a vanguard socialist liberal group as long as its existed.

I’ve never known any religion in the Western Hemisphere that supported killing infants in the womb. If any religion thinks it’s okay, then they’re not God based.

Well, for starters, the Episcopal convention voted in 1967, "unequivocal opposition to any legislation on the part of the national or state governments which would abridge or deny the right of individuals to reach informed decisions in this matter and to act upon them.”

I think most mainstream protestant churches support it in some way. ELCA and United Methodist Church support it with maybe some limits. Presbyterian Church and United Church of Christ support it with few or no limits.

The Catholic church doesn’t condemn sinners. Gay people who sin no more or wish to move way from sin are welcome. Just as repentant adulterers are welcome

Exactly.

✝️🙏🛐

Any real Christian in there should come out of there and be separate from them.

And immediately.

The short answer to your question is yes. God’s grace, mercy and reasoning are beyond our ability to fully comprehend.

Then she wants the UCC and not the Disciples of Christ (Christian churches or First Christian churches) or the church of Christ. The latter are not inclusive of the gay lifestyle.

Well this explains a lot:

“Trinity UCC, pastored for over 30 years by the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is a predominantly black church with 8,000 members. Former President Obama claimed this as his home church in Chicago.”

Definitely apostate, even wise than I thought.

True believers do need to come out of her.

And these religious people think they are going to heaven.

They will be “Left Behind” with all the LGBTQ gang.

Matthew 7:21-23 NIV (Red letters, the very words of Jesus)

“21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”
