Bishop of Green Bay

Decree on the Authenticity of the Apparitions of 1859 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help Diocese of Green Bay

Belief in the Our Lady of Good Help apparitions is no more obligatory to Catholics than belief in the Our Lady of Fatima or Our Lady of Lourdes apparitions.

Bergoglio may one day approve of the Medjagoogu "apparitions" but no Catholic will be obliged to believe in them, either.

But there was never a requirement to accept a Marian apparition as true; we ignore her at our peril.

The bishop's approval gives us confidence that we can accept it as true.
