Doctors will lead you astray and give you a pill.

Acid Reflux: the gentleman that mentioned probiotic yogurt etc is spot on. You can get drinkable probiotic yogurt. The food advice also works. The key is the food. For me, I avoid tomato based foods (chili, meatloaf, pizza, spaghetti etc).

If you are having acid reflux every night, this will fix it:

BRAT system
B - Banana
R - rice (no spicy sauce)
A- apples, applesauce
T - bread, dry toast (I’ve used butter, it won’t make that much of a difference)

Eat only this for one week. Once your system is stabilized you can eat what you wish but be cognizant if the stomach starts feeling bad again, then back off. Look up BRAT for more info.

This happened to me eight years ago. I tried everything (apple cider, probiotics, etc.) It wasn’t working. I was sleeping sitting up to keep from burping acid for months. A friend told me about BRAT. That worked. It took time to allow my stomach to heal and become healthy but once it did, I can eat whatever IN MODERATION. Ex. I made chili this week. I was able to eat it once a day for 5 days. On the second day I avoided eating a second meal of fatty food like breaded fish and a bucket of tartar sauce knowing it would upset my stomach. An upset stomach is fine but if continued, the acid reflux returns. All in all, use BRAT to stabilize, avoid tomato based foods for a while. No pills are necessary and probiotics are good but not necessary once you get ahead of the problem.

Hubby is younger than me. It hit him at 50 like it did me. After months of stubbornness on his part, he finally conceded and did what I ask. He doesn’t have acid reflux anymore either. And he also only ate 1 serving of chili knowing that eating more would upset the apple cart :).

As for sinus and headaches, pollen could be a factor. I’ve never been allergic to anything. After 50, pollen started giving me headaches and other things. My battle against that hasn’t been effective but I’m still working on it. The only thing I’ve tried are vitamins which I’ve been taking for decades. I refuse to use Flonase etc. Pending on where your headache is located, it means different things. Look it up, it might shed some light. Mine are hypertension.

Wishing you the best
