Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem (3/21/24)[Prayer]

The Names and Titles of God (Prince of Peace)

Isaiah 9:6

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Heavenly Father,
How Wonderful,
How Majestic,
How Glorious is Your Most Holy Name!
We Come Before You.
Not on our own merits,
But Because of Your Righteousness,
Faithfulness,
and Love,
According to Your Holy Word.

Dear Prince of Peace,
Your Joy is Our Strength!
LORD, Let us not lose Faith in Your Promises,
Merely because Current Events seem so skewed in the other direction.
We Thank You For Preserving Your Word,
And Your People,
To Show The World that Indeed,
Your Promises Are True
and As Real As They Ever Were!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

My student's Dad was from Iran, so I assumed he was a Muslim. I was so surprised when, in December, I walked into the Living Room to see it decked out for Christmas as if it were the set for Act 1 of "The Nutcracker" Ballet. An enormous Christmas Tree, ablaze with white lights, stood in the center. Around the perimeter of the room, at ceiling height, was a miniature track, on which a Lionel Electric Train, full of gifts, chugged along. Artificial snow covered everything, and icicles sparkled from all the fixtures. Santa and his elves peeked out from behind the furniture, and I stood there gaping.

"Merry Christmas!" said the Dad.

Since it happened to be the last day of Ramadan (which seems to move around the calendar at will), I stuttered back "Happy Eid."("Eid" in this sense, means "Holiday")

Suddenly the dad got very serious,

"That's very kind of you to say, but we REAL Persians only celebrate ONE Eid per year, the First Day of Spring. It goes all the way back to Ancient Times. The GOVERNMENT forces us to celebrate Ramadan. But now I am an American, and I really LIKE Christmas and decorate the house for the kids."

I asked him if he was a Christian.

"No, I was raised Muslim, but now I'm not really anything, but I like the idea of "Peace on Earth", and Jesus is the Prince of Peace, is He not?"

I was a teenager during the Hippie Era, and we always talked about Peace. We had Peace Signs, Peace Symbols, Peace Songs, Peace Activism, Peace Sit-Ins, Peace Seminars, and the "Peace Train". (the songwriter who wrote "Peace Train" ended up being a supporter of the Fatwa against Salmon Rushdie, but that's another story.)

As the decade wore on, we saw that a lot of the "Peace Activists" weren't very "Peaceful" at all. In my humble opinion, a whole generation was deceived, and we are feeling the reverberations to this day.

Longing for Peace is a decent human emotion, but it can be used to manipulate people. This is because "Peace" is not merely the absence of war. "Peace" is more clearly expressed by the Hebrew word "Shalom". Shalom is not just a cessation of hostilities. It embraces Wholeness, Fulfillment, Comfort, Safety, and Health. When you greet someone with "Shalom", you are actually quoting Jesus, as He would greet His disciples with "Peace be unto you". That's a really nice way of saying, "Hello"!

In this Passage of Scripture, the "Son" is called Sar Shalom, or "Prince of Peace". This completes the Verse, which Names God as:

Wonderful Counselor (The Holy Spirit)
Almighty God (The Godhead)
Everlasting Father (Father God)
The Prince of Peace (The Messiah, the Son)

I will never look at that verse on a Christmas Card the same way again.

(And Happy First Day of Spring!)

Come and pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

He Will Come To Us Like the Spring Rain That Waters The Earth. (Lamentations 3)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem.

Did the family come to know the Prince of Peace as LORD and SAVIOR?

Psalm 40

To the leader. Of David. A Psalm.

1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
2 He drew me up from the desolate pit,*
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.

4 Happy are those who make
the Lord their trust,
who do not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after false gods.
5 You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
your wondrous deeds and your thoughts towards us;
none can compare with you.
Were I to proclaim and tell of them,
they would be more than can be counted.

6 Sacrifice and offering you do not desire,
but you have given me an open ear.*
Burnt-offering and sin-offering
you have not required.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am;
in the scroll of the book it is written of me.*
8 I delight to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart.’

9 I have told the glad news of deliverance
in the great congregation;
see, I have not restrained my lips,
as you know, O Lord.
10 I have not hidden your saving help within my heart,
I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation;
I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness
from the great congregation.

11 Do not, O Lord, withhold
your mercy from me;
let your steadfast love and your faithfulness
keep me safe for ever.
12 For evils have encompassed me
without number;
my iniquities have overtaken me,
until I cannot see;
they are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;
O Lord, make haste to help me.
14 Let all those be put to shame and confusion
who seek to snatch away my life;
let those be turned back and brought to dishonour
who desire my hurt.
15 Let those be appalled because of their shame
who say to me, ‘Aha, Aha!’

16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
say continually, ‘Great is the Lord!’
17 As for me, I am poor and needy,
but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
do not delay, O my God.

I honestly don’t know. I shared my faith with them, but that was many years (and many miles)ago and I lost touch with them.

But the Word of the Lord does not return void.
