I am going to open Today's story with a quote attributed to the Late PM Margaret Thatcher.

"Socialism is great...until you run out of other people's money."

A lot of things came up today which pointed to the fact that all of us, no matter how humble, need rewards from time to time. Even the most noble among us can't toil forever without a little stipend, a tip, or even a "Thank You". It gets real tired real quick. Rewards can be tangible or intangible. For example, Blogs and Videos on the Internet are either "monetized", (meaning that the blogger gets paid for "hits" on the site) or not. On You Tube, the controversy begins when the Powers that Be "demonetize" videos that they disapprove of. This demonetization happens if the Blogger expresses a contrary Political Opinion, commits a Copyright Violation, or just antagonizes the PTBs for some innocent reason. The site will still run commercials on the demonetized video, but the revenue doesn't go to the creator of the material.

Some artists don't care about the money, but still are rewarded for their content with hundreds of comments from the public. These comments are worth far more than the money they would have been getting if they were not so bold, or if the PTB's weren't so sensitive. (for "sensitive" read "prejudiced").

This site isn't "monetized" at all, because we are spared the annoying ads and pop-ups that ruin other sites. Which reminds me...it's a new fiscal quarter and time to make a contribution. This is not Tax Deductible, and the "reward" is having this wonderful place where we can meet and talk and share our Faith without being bombarded with ads.

In Today's Scripture, we hear Almighty God talking to Abram. This is even before Abram became Abraham, and God is talking to him. God tells Abram that He Himself is Abram's "Reward". He is not only a reward but an Exceedingly GREAT Reward.

Now remember, Abram was called out of Ur, a large city in what is present-day Iraq. It is not said in Scripture what Abram's City Job was, but he is instructed to leave everything behind him and go to an unknown place. At that moment in time, Abram is not promised anything in return, but he obeys. It is after he leaves Ur that Abram is told to try and count the stars or the grains of sand on the seashore to know that he will have descendants. At the point of his obedience to leave Ur, he is acting totally on FAITH.

That FAITH was credited to Abram as Righteousness.(Gen. 15:6.)

This is stated just a few verses later, but is quoted by both Old and New Testament writers (Genesis 15:6,Romans 4:1-22,Galatians 3:6-9,Hebrews 11:8-10,Hebrews 11:17-19)

That Faith is rewarded by God's Being Himself, which He will give to us as His Only Begotten Son, who died to give Himself as a Ransom for our souls.

An Exceeding Great Reward, Indeed!

Oh Lord, our heavenly Father, You created us and have preserved us, despite the way we have gone away from the things of God. Be pleased, we pray, to guide and govern, protect and provide for all You people

We especially pray for the Church, which is the body of Christ, and for all who profess to call themselves Christians. Uphold us with Your gracious hand, convict us of our need of You, unite us together in brotherly love and give comfort to those that are afflicted in body, mind or soul.
