Progressive Democrat Nina Turner teased a 2024 presidential bid during a concession speech on Tuesday after she was defeated in her bid to challenge Democratic Representative Shontel Brown. Brown defeated Turner with 66.3 percent of the vote to 33.7 percent in Ohio's 11th congressional district. Turner had read most of her concession speech from her phone but toward the end of her remarks, she said she would speak "extemporaneously" and stopped reading. "Sister Turner ain't going nowhere," Turner said and the crowed applauded and cheered. Turner made reference to the late former Representative Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman ever...

Toby Anderson, an Iraq War veteran and health care businessman, announced today that he will run as a Republican in New Jersey’s 11th congressional district, currently held by Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair). “New Jersey deserves representation that cares more about the needs of our families, and less about rigid partisan loyalty – we’re not getting that from Mikie Sherrill,” Anderson said in a statement. We need economic policies to control out-of-control inflation, immigration policies that secure our border and keep us safe, and education policies that empower parents ahead of government. I’m proud to have fought overseas for freedom, and...

Far-left Democrats were dealt a big blow as former Ohio state Sen. Nina Turner, co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign, was defeated by Cuyahoga County Councilwoman Shontel Brown in a much-anticipated special US House primary election. With 96.5 percent of precincts reporting, Brown led Turner by 4,380 votes out of more than 71,000 votes cast. Turner conceded the race soon after 10 p.m. local time, telling supports: “On this night, we will not cross the river.” The contest in Ohio’s 11th District, a deep-blue constituency that includes most of Cleveland, parts of Akron and several majority-black precincts in between...

Democratic congressional in North Carolina recently called on his audience to “stomp” on the necks of Republican “extremists,” according to Twitter messages that resurfaced during a debate between candidates for the seat. “Screw they go low, we go high bullsh*t,” said the September 11, 2019 tweet by Moe Davis. “When @NCGOP extremists go low, we stomp their scrawny pasty necks with our heels and once you hear the sound of a crisp snap you grind your heel hard and twist it slowly side to side for good measure. He needs to know who whupped his ass.” Davis, a retired Air...

Republican congressional candidate Madison Cawthorn faces increased scrutiny after multiple reports of unwanted sexual behavior. The allegations came to light following a social media post from a woman who shared her account of a date with Cawthorn six years ago. Katrina Krulikas said in the post that Cawthorn forcefully attempted to kiss her twice. Cawthorn, 24, of Hendersonville, has denied the allegations, and a public relations consultant for his campaign questioned the timing of Krulikas’ statement. Krulikas said her decision to share her experience of a date with Cawthorn in 2014 came after months of consideration. “I had written the...

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo interviewed Mark Meadows earlier today on her Sunday morning show. This is quite possibly the most revealing interview so far this year on the Obama ‘Spygate’ and surveillance investigation. The interview is jam-packed with info. Clapper and Brennan demanding protection for sources and methods, but at the same time they’re saying people weren’t spied on. … Well, you wouldn’t need to protect sources and methods if people in the Trump administration weren’t spied on. The segment with Meadows begins at 18:37 [prompted, just hit play] and includes multiple new aspects including: •Weissmann/Mueller report collapsing under...

WASHINGTON — These Congress members are sleeping on the job — and defending their right to do it. Crying poverty amid decade-long stagnant salaries and Washington’s steep cost of living, an increasing number of House lawmakers have turned into professional squatters at night, hitting the sack in their Capitol Hill offices — on everything from cots in closets to futons stashed behind constituent couches — to save a few bucks during the work week. “Washington is too expensive,” said Rep. Dan Donovan (R-SI), who credits the cot that he sleeps on in a tiny alcove in his office as the...

A political action committee run by Republican women opposed to Donald Trump is getting involved in Michigan's most competitive Congressional races — and supporting the Democrat candidates. Republican Women for Progress PAC tells Metro Times it has taken out $50,000 television ad buys in Michigan's 11th and 8th Congressional District races. Both races feature a moderate Democrat against a Trump-aligned Republican. In MI-11, Democrat Haley Stevens is up against Republican Lena Epstein, the former Michigan chair for the Trump campaign. In MI-08, Elissa Slotkin is trying to unseat incumbent Rep. Mike Bishop.

DETROIT (WWJ) Among the new group of state lawmakers to emerge from Election Day on Tuesday is Brian Banks, who has been convicted eight times for felonies involving bad checks and credit card fraud. Banks, a Democrat and lifelong Detroiter, won a seat in Lansing as a state representative for the 1st District, representing the east side of Detroit, Harper Woods, and the tony Grosse Pointes. He won 68 percent of the vote to Republican Dan Schulte’s 32 percent. Banks, 35, was convicted eight times between 1998 and 2004 of writing bad checks and credit card fraud.

Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) will not run for re-election this year, a source close to the Congressman told Roll Call. The Blue Dog Democrat had decided against a bid in a redrawn 11th district, which was made substantially more Republican than his current district during GOP-led redistricting.

NOTE from RFFM.org's Executive Director: RFFM.org is a pro-family website/blog whose primary goal is to share information about social, cultural and political issues which conservative Americans care about. Many experts believe the 2010 midterm election will sweep true conservatives into office like never before. The race between Carl Segvich and John Daley (Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley's brother) will certainly be an interesting one to follow. -- Dan Zanoza "My friends and fellow residents of Cook County, we need your help between now and November 2nd," said Carl Segvich. "In order to take this fight to our opponent, we need...

Dear Chancellor John Bardo, I have a bone to pick with you. So does the US Constitution. And so do those who believe that universities should be open communities, allowing a diverse views to be expressed – in academic language. My public declaration of my candidacy for Congress from the 11th District here in Western Carolina was on 3 March. I’d contacted the Director of the Fine and Performing Arts Center at your university, Western Carolina, about using that Center for my first press conference. I offered to pay full rate for the use of the facilities. I had several...

Folks, Two of my campaign appearances since the 1st Report are unique and deserve mention here. One was with a group of left-wing Democrats, who refer to themselves as "progressives." The invited me to see if I would dare join them, for two hours of pointed questions. I accepted, and the comments posted on the Internet as a result made it clear that they intend to see me defeated, come November. But they also included comments that I am "honest" and a "man of obvious integrity." When even your political opponents speak of you that way, that is a very...

I am running. For Congress in the 11th District of North Carolina in 2006. Here’s why: Many times I’ve urged my readers to visit the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. This is one of the most beautiful places in the nation, and the world. Millions of people agree; the Great Smokies are the third most popular park destination in the US. There is a power, a majesty, a soothing effect, in the mountains, the forests, the streams, the waterfalls. There is truth in the Bible verse, carved in the oak altar of First Presbyterian Church, Highlands, North Carolina, “I...

Mark Twain frequently used the title quote to introduce himself to civic associations where he spoke. It seemed the proper beginning to an article about Congress in general, and about why I am not running for the House – in 2004. The “trade” that Twain referred to was extracting ill-gotten gains from the unsuspecting public. Eight years after the first Americans established our new government under the Constitution, we divided into two major political parties: the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists. Both they and their allied newspaper editors then turned the denigration of their congressional opponents into a cottage industry that...

Why This Campaign Is Important This race is important primarily because no Democrat filed to run against the Republican incumbent, Tom Davis. The only candidates on the ballot are Davis, a four-term incumbent, chairman of the Republican National Congressional Campaign, and independent Frank Creel, a political newcomer. Davis is usually described as a "moderate" Republican, a term used repeatedly by the media to describe Republicans who are not strongly against abortion. Creel, by contrast, is strongly pro-life, a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and advocate of limited government. He favors the elimination of the federal personal income tax. Nobody...
